That's acceptable. I got the answers I was looking for from your associates before you showed up. I've refrained from being baited into arguments thus far and not going to start. I am definitely not atheist. I was raised incredibly devout Christian and followed that path the first 25 years of life. I studied a wide range of religions in college, traveled aboad, and finally abandoned all organized religions when I didn't receive answers or any help when I needed it most from god. Anyhow, it won't matter to you, but I came to my own conclusions. You're more than welcome to read the early posts to see why I came though.

God answers everyone. Most simply choose to ignore what He is saying because (I hear this constantly)

"It is too hard, the sacrifice is too great".

Pastor Ezekiel, in his loving and caring way is telling you to stop crying the "Why Me's" and develop a backbone, accept responsibility.
No doubt you wronged God and never made amends figuring "Oh, He will just forget and let me slide".
This all goes back to what I was telling you before. You just refuse to listen. Friend, over time, Gods messages to you will get stronger and louder. His final thunderous roar is not one you are going to like, not one bit.

James, I honestly believe it was not the case. I lost everything for a time : friends, family, and my wife to follow that conviction. Continuing on as I was would have been easy. I have a path that has brought me peace and essentially revolves around being an awesome dad.

James, I honestly believe it was not the case. I lost everything for a time : friends, family, and my wife to follow that conviction. Continuing on as I was would have been easy. I have a path that has brought me peace and essentially revolves around being an awesome dad........

The more you share, the more obvious it was merely a test God gave you. He may of had special plans for you had you passed the test. He makes it very hard on those He cares most about.
God is always testing me. Seductive pleasures of the flesh at every Wal*Mart I visit. Excessive riches to be gained from items abandoned on shipping docks. Gifts of untold debauchery for 'looking the other way' or carrying a package of powder less than 100 kilograms across country. I face these challenges every single day.
Bad things do not happen to good people friend, without a majestic reason.

You definitely surprised me with the sincerity of those last comments. There is actually one scripture I'd be interested in hearing an interpretation of. 1 cor 10:13. I think I got that right about how god doesn't give trials without preparing a way out. This one really hangs me up since I still recall pouring out my whole soul in prayer, giving 110% for as long as I could until I broke. I admit it, I broke. I held on for months saying to myself "I can hold out one more day" while continuing to pray. So yeah, that scriptures has always felt like salt tubbing in a very tender wound

It sounds to me like you really believe in God deep down inside (like most atheists), but you took to putting so many selfish demands on Him, that God probably gave you the cold shoulder for awhile.

He's a lot smarter than you. Who are you to make demands and judge Him?

I just want some clarification about what you really are. You see, many people who come here don't really know the meanings of "agnostic" and "atheist".

Are you a Deist or a Pantheist? Both of those are what would be called "agnostic theists", because they are quite certain there's a god, but they don't think humans can know the exact nature of that god, or likely interact with it in any meaningful manner. (Which makes believing in it rather impractical, don't you think?)

Or are you an "agnostic atheist"? These folks think that there isn't enough evidence to support belief in gods. Most people who call themselves "agnostic" mean this, but they don't understand that it is what "atheist" means.

The "gnostic atheist" is a rare breed; this is the truly arrogant twat who claims he can know with absolute certainty that, in all of the universe, and in every dimension outside of the known universe (should any exist), there is nothing that would meet the standard definition of 'god'. Considering the average gnostic atheist doesn't even know what is growing in his refrigerator, it's nothing but arrogance to believe he knows everything about the universe.

The "gnostic theist", which is what True Christians™ are, and actually the majority of people in the world are, know that humans can know God's nature, and that God exists. (Note that 'God' is capitalized here, because I'm referring to God, not gods in the generic sense.)

how else can one judge but by their own experiences and reasoning. I put faith in the word of God and he didn't make good on the promises. If then God does not or is not able to fulfill his promises, he is not a being worthy of worship. I don't pretend to know any universal truths, just what has been true in my life.

I'm also still interested in hearing an explanation on 1 Cor 10:13 and how it pertains to the situation. One of the forum introductory posts mentioned asking for official commentary on scriptural verses was acceptable.

Gnostic atheist is inherently a contradiction since confined my mortal reasoning and logic, one cannot KNOW there is no god, and I don't claim to KNOW anything of the nature of deity. I definitely do not consider myself a deist or a pantheist as both acknowledge a force even if it is not meaningful. I just don't believe that God is knowable or more importantly, knowing God is not important.

the idea of faith is having trust in what god has supposedly said and acting on it. Please, I'd appreciate your view of 1 Cor 10:13 or why it is not relevant to my situation.
