    Hi, my name is august

That was the month I was born and I know Jesus loves that month.

I belong to the Church of the Open Bible. We believe in reading the Bible. Some of us even study Greek to learn to read it without translation.

We help the poor, too. We think Jesus wants us to help the poor, even if they are unsaved. We think helping them and telling them about Jesus could save them.

I am a faithful and loyal servant of the Lord. My church follows the truths of Jesus and the Bible. I found Jesus when I was brought into the church when I lived in poverty. I had lost my job and had no where to go but Jesus saved me.

    My favorite Bible verse is:

Proverbs 28:6: Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, Than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.
    1 Corinthians 11:3
But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

Let me see if I understand you correctly....

.... You enable the poor, then they can't see the bad habits that make them poor, and you think this is what Jesus wants?

    I'm confused.
Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

Hello August. Welcome to the forum.

It would seem, however, that your church of choice is misleading you a little.

This helping the poor thing just doesn't wash. God tells us this in the Book of Exodus.

      Exodus 23:3

Neither shalt thou countenance a poore man in his cause.

Now that's pretty clear isn't it.

Is this "Church" you belong to one of those places where people talk in tongues and roll around on the ground?
      Isaiah 66:15

For behold, the Lord wil come with fire, and with his charets like a whirlewinde, to render his anger with furie, and his rebuke with flames of fire.

Poor in that context doesn't necessarily means poor, silly. The the actual meaning of "the poor" is actually directed towards us, True Christians. We are what the bible subjected as "the poor" since we are humble, and are willing to follow the true path of Jesus Christ.
Job 38:11 And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed.

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised. Luke 4:18.

Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me. Mark 10:21

No, we do not talk in tongues or roll around on the ground. Well some people speak Spanish, but that's because they are Mexicans. I've never seen anyone roll on the ground. Maybe some of the kids when they are playing.

              Well August,

And there was me thinking we had a new member who was actually here to join us in Praise of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Why do you try to decieve us in this way. All we have done is welcome you to the forum, and how do you repay us? With lies, that's how.

I am shocked to my very core and will pray for you.

Yet another hideous sinner trying to make the Bible sound contradictory bites the dust. Jesus wins again.
