The Bible, guns and good stewardship!

With all the negative publicity about guns in the media recently, I thought I'd give my two cents about the issue from my Christian perspective. In Luke 12:42 God talks about dealing with animals while being a good steward. It seems like many men and women have talents in which they excel, myself included. I have a friend that is a grand master in chess and has actually traveled to Russia to match wits with the worlds best chess champions and did remarkably well. Another friend used his God given engineering and designing talents along with serious dedication to place in the top ten one year in the Indy 500.

Well, my talent is, in my opinion, also very special. I can proudly say that I have been known to take several thousands of dollars worth of the very latest, high tech hunting equiptment, including a high end nitrogen filled red dot scope, a custom made, fluted stainless steel precision rifled target match barrel, precision hand loaded match, hollow point bullets and all of the very best camo and scent blocking ingredients into the deep woods to test my skills as a real back woods hunter. Whereas my so-called other professional friends compete against other people, I prefer to match my wits with squirrels and more than once I have proven my God given talents by skillfully outwitting several squirrels and a rabbit! I firmly believe that deep prayer before the hunt gives me the slight edge over these very craftly and worthy opponents. There are no words to describe the feeling of accomplishment that one feels after out thinking a squirrel as he slowly approaches your 'squirrel in heat' soaked bait pile to get a free socialist style handout! It is very hard to be humble when you proudly pull into your driveway and see the look of envy on your neighbors faces as you carry a squirrel or even a chipmonk into your house!

It seems to me that you have been using your talents very wisely, which surely is very pleasing to God (Matthew 25:21). BTW, you are welcome to come to my backyard and shoot as many squirrels as you wish. The damn things are driving me crazy.
God created fossils to test our faith.

There's no better target practice than a good ol' ground hog. About 200 meters or so as they cross the field a running, I use to as a kid carry a whistle along with my trusty .22 mag rifle. When blowing the whistle they'd stop and for a brief one to two seconds stand up on their furry hind legs. I'd toss them there furry critters about 4 ft in the air while tumbling them backwards.

By time basic training came along "for God and country" - I was handed an M-16 in which I qualified with for the highest medal. While my targets were always composed of a human shape in the armed forces up to 400m, I hadn't shot for almost a decade. I recently sold a .308 norma mag, and for the first time I am going to purchase a hand pistol. I am looking for a good .22 that I can fit a suppressor on to shoot snipes pretty close quarters around the house. May all my conflicts be small!

      Praise Him!!!

Re: The Bible, guns and good stewardship!

I was asked to assist a neighbor in ridding a nest of squirrels that made their home under the canvas cover over his backyard BBQ grill awhile back. Everytime the neighbor would approach his grill on his back deck, the squirrel parents would chatter and hiss in protection of their little ones. Although others suggested various ways like .22's, pellet guns, moth balls, smoke bombs and similar methods, the neighbor only wanted them permanently gone, but he didn't want to use deadly force, so my recently purchased AR-15 with a 100rd banana clip unfortunatly was not his approved solution.

I was at wits end for a peaceful solution, so I picked up my King James, read several verses about Solomon and his unique wisdom in solving difficult problems, then got on my knees and asked Jesus for help. I laid quietly in bed as my prayer was answered! In my half-dream state, the heavens opened somewhat like a scroll and a glorious voice instructed me to obtain an AM radio, place it close to the BBQ, tune it to Rush Limbaugh and prepare for a miracle! I did as instructed and within minutes, a true Exodus of squirrels was observered leaving for parts unknown. Everyone was pleased with the positive results that were obtained by using Bible wisdom instead of deadly force except for one Democrat neighbor who looked me directly in the eye and said "have you no compassion"?

Re: The Bible, guns and good stewardship!

Whenever I take the family on a nature walk to enjoy the majesty of God's Creation, I always pack the 12 gauge and squirrel call. This glorious little whistle is simple in design but insidious in purpose; it mimics the screams of a baby sqiurrel in distress! A couple blows on this thing and those demonic tree-rats come swarming out of the woodwork to investigate...afterward, I must admit, there usually isn't enough left of them to have stuffed and mounted for display in my den, but it makes for a great outdoor bonding experience with the family.
