'Love and acceptance' gives you a nice warm fuzzy feeling inside, doesn't it. But God is about more than that. God is also a vengeful God, a jealous god.

I don't like that. I've been taught that he is loving and forgiving. This is going wrong, as if we don't pray the same god. This is terrible, I don't like the god you're showing me, I'd rather not believe in him. I want to keep my vision of a kind accepting god.

You see, it's not all the love and acceptance and soft fluffiness you've been taught. God is a fearsome being. If you are a real Christian, you have to take the nice parts of the Bible with the more unpleasant parts. You can't just cherry-pick the bits you want and discard the rest.

The thing is, if you want to go to Heaven, you have to follow the God of the Bible, not the false God that you've been taught about.

Oh dear. You raise far too many issues to deal with them all, but let me make a start.

But I still am catholic because I like the message they give.

At first this seems like a contradiction, as you say in your very first post that you are no longer a Christian. But of course, Catholics aren't Christians so you never were one in the first place.

Knowledge makes me wonder if God really did all the things written in the Bible, but I still go to church because I like the message they spread.

You really need to read our comprehensive section on your "church". There is plenty of material there - come back when you have read it.

The catholic church already has incalculable wealth. Read about it. It can well afford to support its priests and buildings. Why does it need to collect even more money from some of the poorest folk on earth? So that Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone can build himself a luxury beach villa to go with his fancy new penthouse?

Heaven is available for Christians only. Romans are not Christians. Ergo, you will have to go to Hell with everyone else.

Catholics worship idols of plaster adorned with gold and jewels. Catholics pray to false gods. Catholics entrust their salvation to mumbling, incense burning priests. These are not the marks of Christians. Christians follow God's laws and worship Him.

This is where you are going wrong, son. Jesus does not conform to how YOU want Him to be.

This might sound harsh but think about bears. When I was little I really wanted to cuddle a bear. They're so big and furry I just wanted to nestle my face into their fur and get a big warm hug.

That was my vision of a bear.

Now think of Jesus. What more calming trust worthy figure can we imagine? White, blue eyes, luxurious hair, powerful arms. Who would not want to fall into His masculine embrace (but not in gay way)?

You see, Jesus is armed for bear. If you don't make yourself aware of Jesus' wishes you are going to see both His sword AND His mouth sword.

You may think that you can walk right up to Jesus have Him give you a nice cuddle you in the way of a friendly Uncle but if you have not followed His words you will not like the reality.

In the same way I now know my childish vision of bears being cuddly, soppy playmates does not fit the facts you should realise that your childish vision of Jesus also does not fit the facts.

Son, you need to read all of the Bible: not just the bits that fit in with your personal biases.

No. We worship the God of the Bible. The only God. God is about love, but he is also about hate and vengeance. This assures us that we will go to Heaven for Eternity. To worship any other god (such as a fluffy bunny god) is to guarantee eternal damnation in the firey pits of Hell. To worship that fluffy god gets you nowhere. Why worship a non-existent god, a god that is purely a figment of someone's imagination?

Evil relative to what? True morality is determined by whether or not an action is in accordance with the Word of God. If God says it's good, it's good. If God hates it, it is evil. Our own deluded sense of right and wrong is irrelevant. The Christian path is not paved with sugar plum dreams and strawberry wishes; it is paved with the shattered bodies and shredded souls of those who have crossed our LORD. God knows that if you want to make an omelet, sometimes you've got to crack a few eggs. It is our job to cower before Him and obey His edicts, lest He consign us to the fiery pits of hell for all eternity.
