Personally i grew up in the faroe islands and am half faroese.
Faroe islands actually comes from sheep islands, because we have more sheep than people.
alchohol isnt a problem there, wherever you go, there will be some alchoholics, most of my friends are prohobited drinking and smoking, but as in any other country we do it anyway.

Although, I must say that many True Christians(tm) hold a special place in their hearts for the plight of the persecuted Christians of Sandoy. Your parents, grandparent and great-grandparents have probably lived in the same small village their whole lifes - Generation after generation has married close family members: This is the root of the problem!
But now that almost all our villages are connected by dirt roads and not are as isolated as they used to be, we can really break this vicious circle. Our sons and daughters shouldn't marry their cousins or nephews or anyone from the same village, they should find their partner in life in another village.
