The Rewards of Prayer and Friendship

I am hopeful that my dear Elizabeth will not mind that I mention this:

Having been praying and fasting for the Lord to send me a suitable husband, and having cultivated my friendship with my dearest Elizabeth to the point where I almost think of her as more a daughter in Jesus than just a friend, she and her husband, Methuselah or whatever his name is, have recommended to my father that he allow me to meet a fine young man of God from the state of California. I understand that Dad has already contacted Elizabeth to set this in motion.

Of course, I have to prove myself worthy and have been practicing with my pie so that he will be satisfied. I cannot wait to put my freshly cooked nuts in his mouth and watch him salivate over them (his favorite pie is pecan). I will keep everyone posted as things develop.

This all proves that GOD DOES REWARD US WHEN WE PRAY! Glory! HALLELUHAH! Sister Mary, won't you just pray for me right now, in Christ's Name? Will you just lift me up to Him in Whose Name we find our hope and our future salvation? Glory! Glory! Glory!

    Yours in Jesus,
    NRL

PS: Take THAT, haters who said it would never happen.

Naomi, do not be discouraged, for God is with you. "The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing." Zephaniah 3:17

I'm hopeful of this arrangement, however, a word of caution, he is a pastor, so I want to remind you, in the most kindly fashion to remember your beautiful manners, godly behavior, and delicious pies.

    Your loving sister in Christ,
    Elizabeth

I am so very happy for you, dear Sister Naomi! When God told me to reject that poor fellow (we've been in contact with Sister Elisabeth over this some time ago, and God gave me multiple signs to not accept him), I just knew that he could find a fine, mature woman for whom he would be a more suitable match!

        Praise !!!!!!

such joy is all of ours when a Sister in Christ™ is Saved© through the union of blessed, opposite-sex marriage and the bursting forth of Little Ones!

Just to clarify my dear Sister Basilissa, there were actually two pastors. I'm glad He gave you a sign.

Oh, so you have two junior unmarried pastors to dispose of? Wow, I guess there are no decent women in California anymore (except for you, naturally, dear, but you're already married). Well, just in case the one that Sister Naomi talked about runs away screaming changes his mind, the one you talked to me about is definitely free and has my blessing to do whatever he wants.

Yes, they are fairly new, and most of the girls were already betrothed; fathers make a good profit on them while they are very young. They had to find 2 godly wives -- that's borderline impossible. Thus, we are reaching out to other godly ladies. Naomi, dear? I haven't heard back from you or your father yet...my husband wants an answer soon.

                  My Dearest Elizabeth:

With two new stores opening soon I just don't see how I can tear myself away from my duties as owner of this company. I'm sorry but I think a man will just have to wait. If he's worth my time he'll wait.

Of course, Father is livid about this and he has probably informed you of that privately, but I have to do what I have to do.

What a - well - lovely cake. I just can't come up with the words. I will certainly take your offer under advisement if I decide to meet the pastor Elizabeth has mentioned. I haven't completely set my mind on it as of this writing.

Again - what a thoughtful offer - and my, what talent you display. I just don't think there is an adequate description available.

I will carry these scriptures with me in my heart and on a crisp 3x5 index card and remember them always, not only as an admonition, but as a gift from our Lord - an instruction in grace, if you will - and I pray that Jesus will grant you special blessings this day - Good Friday, when He temporarily sacrificed His life as a part of the master plan of our redemption. We are redeemed by the Blood of Christ, Hallelujah!

And now I simply MUST get back to planning my next pie expansion. Perhaps a husband will be in the mix someday. Elizabeth,

I do hope you took the 50% discount offered to Baptist pastors and their wives. If not, please let me know so I can have your money refunded. Yes, my pie is delightful! So many people have commented on its smooth texture, its luxuriously sweet filling, and how they cannot wait to taste it again. I give all the glory to God, my King, my Lord, my Savior.

Oh, what a Savior! Oh Hallelujah! He shed His life blood for even me.

Thank you for the hospitality shown to my parents. They have spoken of nothing else but your luxuriously appointed home and the perfect meals you provided. Father loves Malcolm or whatever your husband's name is. Mother now has another daughter, she says. She particularly enjoyed your evening of sewing and crocheting. Almost as soon as she arrived at her home, she put the toaster cozy with the face of our Lord on her toaster. I hope she remembers to take it off before using it.

Mother also said that Milton (or whatever his name is) was a very spiritual, humble man with a dynamic preaching style that invited the presence of the Lord into the sanctuary. She mailed out a special tithe to the church address which should be received soon. She also mentioned that you were needing an upgrade to the church air conditioning. Father is sending the money for that along with an extra love offering.

Sorry your plans to trap me into a wedding were unsuccessful, but I am grateful for the kindness you showed my parents and I do hope they were no trouble.
