A Wisconsin sinner was killed by God in Minnesota over the weekend on Lake Superior.

A 9-year-old Wisconsin boy died from a lightning strike, one of eight boaters who sought shelter on a Lake Superior beach, Minnesota authorities said Sunday.
Luke Voigt, 9, of Iron River, Wis., was one of eight family members and friends who were on a sailboat that took refuge about 5:30 p.m. Saturday from a rapidly approaching thunderstorm near the Duluth-Superior harbor, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

I haven't had the time to research exactly what this little heathen and his family had done to anger God so much, but I'm sure he dd something, since God doesn't strike down righteous people except when He is teaching a lesson to a sinful relative. The boy could even have offended the Lord accidentally, as the clumsy Uzzah did here.

And when they came to Nachon's threshingfloor, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it.

And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God.

God set the universe into motion, and frequently intervenes in its operations today for a variety of reasons. His ways are mysterious at first glance, but usually there some heinous sin behind His homicide, such as working on the Sabbath, or committing heart adultery. In cases where no sin can be identified, it is because God refuses to alter the events that He set into motion, knowing their outcome all along. Why would God alter His omnipotent will, just to save an innocent human life?

If we can't at first figure out what caused God to mercilessly kill some outwardly innocent child in a hideous way, righteously in His love, we can take refuge in the simple wisdom that we are expecting too much of ourselves.

1 Samuel 16:7 But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

God sees the heart. Who knew what wickedness that child was thinking? He probably cursed his mother and father for not buying him ice cream or something terrible like that. God had His reasons and they were just and righteous.

His family need to accept they had spawned something evil and move on.
