Pope Benedict XVI announces he is to resign

After Landover threatens to publish the pictures, Pope Benedict XVI announces he is to resign.
Pope Benedict said he "had to recognise my incapacity to adequately fulfil the ministry entrusted to me"
You see, Old Ratslinger can't even bring himself to give the reason.
If you are a True Christian™ God is on your side and your prayers will be answered.

PM Pastor Zeke for copies of the photos*.

    Amen!

Christ doesn't call the equipped, He equips the Called. The pope was clearly not actually Called by Christ. He just thought he was.

Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

Praise Jesus, Landover Baptist has brought down another Pope. How many is that now?

They need to clear these bozo candidates with Zeke before they appoint them. Zeke has intelligence on all of them, their Nazi links, their child porn obsessions and the rest.

I'm guessing the Vatican will not do this. Instead, they will think, "This time we can pull off appointing a wayward Pope and no one will ever know his past."

I'm very surprised Benedict chose to resign. I thought he would have gone out the same way as his hero and mentor, that is gone down to his bunker and shot himself.

No doubt he is being punished by Vatican bigwigs for not covering up their kiddie porn antics efficiently enough anymore.

I wonder if this means Judy Garland can have her shoes back now?

He might as well return them. When he's in hell, clicking his heels together and saying, "There's no place like Rome" won't work.
This church is dedicated to preaching True Christianity™ and the King James Bible exactly as they are, with no alterations to make them more politically correct for modern liberals. Let's not celebrate too soon. At least this pope told everyone gay marriage destroyed the essence of the human creature.

The next pope might be worse. E.g. one of those popes preaching peace and love instead of following God's clear guidance of destroying everyone who doesn't obey Him here and in the afterlife (Mark 16:16, Revelation 21:8, John 15:6, John 14:6).

I absolutely agree, COM. In some respects Ex-Benedict was a great and inspirational religious leader. His continuation of the Catholic Church's work, spreading AIDS in Africa, is a benefit and gift to all humanity.

Now, Pope Benny says God told him to quit. It's hard to understand why God would tell the most anti homer Pope to quit and replace him with a homers-are-OK one.

It seems like he is making up this God message thing.

In his first statement to the press since stepping down from the papacy in February, 86-year-old former pope Benedict has said he left his office because God directed him to
Isaiah 24:1-3 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty (2)...as the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. (3) The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken his word.

If God had actually spoken to Pope Benny he would have immediately signed a quitclaim deed transferring all of the Vatican's property and wealth to the Landover Baptist Church and announced a transition team to convert all of catholicism to Landover Baptist.

What probably happened here is that Benny received a visitation from Satan urging him to resign so that a more homer friendly pope could be installed as the vicar of Satan on earth. When I was being raised by the cathylicks this was always presented as the one with the most souls won. What they didn't say was that Jesus always wins in the end, but not without a lot of carnage before that happens.
