Oh, and now we need to hear all over again that some Goths attend the symphony and have season tickets to the opera, and then there are all the Goths that have Nobel Prizes and all the top scientists at CERN that are Goths.

Well, if you actually heard of the movie Gummo and have seen it, you see that scene in the movie. And main characters are far from Goth.

And I hardly doubt Hot topic would have that in their store, because 1. They'll sell anything thats popular and I really doubt that the people at Hot Topic know about this, because Gummo isn't a popular movie, its more of an indie film. 2. I don't think the people would be so stupid to support self-harm.

They probably do sell Harry Potter stuff in there or even Twilight stuff in there too. But those series have nothing to do with Goth at all either. Shit, even vampires or witches aren't Goth, unless if you see one that actually dresses and knows the music (ex. the cure, joy division, alien sex fiend.).

Most of the clothes are alright there. I don't see anything wrong with them.

Rap music, and Insane Clown Posse have absolutely nothing to do with Goth whatsoever. I despise most rap music. Like I said before, Hot Topic will sell anything that's popular. Hot Topic isn't even Goth.

3. Just maybe the store might have changed it marketing strategy in the time that has passed.

4. We have plenty of Goth threads around here (actually far too many if you ask me). Take your whining to another thread.

5. As usual, the Goths and their defenders can't really say just what they stand for - other than to complain that any attempt to define them attacks their "individuality".

6. Oh, and when you try to criticize them they opt out - saying that those that meet the "description" are "posers".

7. Goths are just incapable of forming any rudimentary syllogism in mounting their own defense, demand that everyone respect their "sub-culture", then disavow that they are really a "cult" and claim that their "individuality" is being attacked.

Let's face it, Goths go around looking like they're embalmed and just waiting around to be interred - filling their meaningless lives with endless trips to their "clubs" and listening to some ill-defined genre of "metal" music as an anodyne to their pointless existence.

William, yes I did. It looked like a recent thread to me so my mistake. It is pointless to try and defend the subculture on here. But yeah, was just pointing out the things assumed about Hot Topic. Hot Topic isn't really a Goth store, they do sell things that a Goth person would wear, but its pretty much a store that'll sell anything thats popular

We don't allow any kids who dress like Goth, talk like Goth or walk like Goth in any store in Freehold. If they are walking on the side walk, they are shadowed until they leave town.

And, guess what happens when Hot Topic applies for a building permit to locate a store in Freehold? The store never meets code requirements. (Don't ask me how I know.)

I think this is the right place to post, made my account and stuff. ANYWAY I just ordered these new t-shirts from Hot Topic and they are BAD. ASS. One is white and says "I have made a HUGE mistake" which is a reference to the show Arrested Development and the other is a grey tank top with Bob Marley's face on it.
I'll post pics when they arrive.

Hot Topic is just store. A store that sells clothing and other stuff. Examples.

clothes: Punk, metal (almost all sorts.), grunge, classic rock, 80's metal, alternative rock, scream, crunk core, pop, rap, hip hop, industrial, pop punk. They only seem to have two shirts that have Goth bands on them, Depeche Mode and Siouxsie and the Banshees. The rest are not Goth.

Pop culture t-shirts: troll face, twerk, keep calm, f*** cancer, superman, disney, adventure time, grump cat, harry potter, supernatural, batman, minecraft, star wars, anime, breaking bad, spongebob, doctor who, animal faces, wwe, my little pony, t-shirts with random sayings, a clockwork orange, teenage mutant ninja turtles, wonder woman, more cartoons, the walking dead, sixteen candles, marilyn monroe, ecards, tokidoki, hello kitty, more shows & movies.

skinny jeans, regular pants, boots, sneakers, creepers, platforms, swim clothing, sleep clothing, underwear, cosplay, rockabilly. All the same as what I mentioned above.

Jewelry: tv shows, movies, band, video games, pentagram, upside down cross.

bags/wallets, body jewelry, makeup, hair stuff, scarves/bandanas, hats, glasses, suspenders, ties, pins, patches, stickers, tech accessories, lanyards, keychains, and room decor. all of this is the same as mentioned above.

So in short, Hot Topic isn't selling stuff thats satanic. If they were I think they have the Satanic Bible. Last time I checked Hot Topic doesn't have that stuff or even sells books.
