  • Christmas Gifts For Our Wives

    Praise Jesus Brothers!

Christmas will be here before you know it and if you are like me, we often find ourselves at the dimestore on Christmas Eve looking for the perfect gift for our wives in expression of our love. Not this year; I'm just getting too old for that last-minute stress and have already purchased Mrs. Porters gift.

Christmas is a special day for Christians as we celebrate the birth of our Savior. In the Porter home, we understand this and limit ourselves to just one gift to each other that reflects our value and status in the household. I've left Rolex brochures on the coffee table for weeks now as a hint of what I expect to awake to. The Holy Bible is very clear on why the man is superior to the woman, and therefore worthy of substantially more recognition.

"But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
    " 1 Corinthians 11:3 - KJV
Muriel does quite well in her role as a submissive and subordinate wife, but there is always room for improvement. I decided that her gift should have practical value in helping her become an even better Christian wife.

Although written by a woman, "The Excellent Wife; A Biblical Perspective" appears to be solid and Godly instruction. I found it here for just $5.26, brand new. The reviews are great.

THE EXCELLENT WIFE is the most wonderful book I have ever read on the christian woman's place in life! Martha is a genuine writer, sharing things that most would not go near. She does not fill ones head with the mumbo-jumbo of 'take care of yourself first' psychology~ rather she admonishes and eqips all women how to overcome the sin of not submitting. She confronts sinful behavior in the marriage and the church for what it is- sin. She uses the only authority for dealing with sinful behavior, the Bible. She then offers hope and encouragement with practical suggestions and heart-examining techniques to assist one in their growth in Christ. Martha has done a wonderful job in this accompanying study guide- I don't suggest anyone read the book without reading and working through this also! It reiterates what she has discussed and assists one in examining their own life to be more of what God would have them to be. Praise God for Martha's uncompromised writings on the role for women that God originated and the world seeks to deteriorate! Praise God!

I don't have a wife yet, but am courting a fine Christian girl that still has her fanciful ideas of equality. Otherwise she is a great girl who will be a good mother after some correcting, and Ive decided to start training her for being a good submissive wife with not only the great book you have shown me, but this pastry board along with several differen't recipe's and ingredients to make some baked goods shown herehttp://www.uncommongoods.com/product/pastry-board Im also thinking of giving her a plot of soil in my yard to tend but am wary as to wether or not that would be spoiling her which would achieve the opposite of my goal, any advice on this?

      Praise Christ Brother!

This secular world gives them an artificial sense of self-importance that is difficult to entirely remove.

A plot of soil for her to tend is entirely reasonable provided she understands that God made it, it belongs to you and she is just using it. Hence, no rototillers or tools of convenience. Whatever money she would waste on frivolous clothing should go toward a shovel, trowel and packets of seeds. The blisters and sweat will be forgotten as she reaps what she sows and serves it to you.

      In Jesus!

Thank you! I already am having visions of the joy I will bring to her on Christmas day as she see's the beginning of her maturing from her childish equal mindedness into a happy submissive wife!!! I of course will have to make sure she dresses apropriately and watch over her work but I feel that after a few simple lessons she will gain somewhat of a green thumb ( I grew up in somewhat of a farming community and have some experience caring for crops) and will then rejoice in the fact that when she reaps the harvest I will be able to save money from my food budget and be able to give more to Christ! I now have to find the patience to wait for Jesus's birthday to unveil this gift to her! Thank you for your advice!

Now that looks like a good Gift. I was wondering what to get her. We got all new appliances with the house and I just bought her a new vacuum for her birthday.

Perhaps a new book and a couple of rolls of fabric?

            I don't presently have a wife . . . not since the incident.

I wonder what you gentlemen think about buying one's wife a washing machine.

They aren't that expensive, and it occurs to me that even a woman can participate in more useful, value-adding activities (like that Victory Garden suggestion, or even taking in mending) rather than spending time doing something an appliance can, honestly, do better anyway.
            Bible boring? Nonsense!

Re: Christmas Gifts For Our Wives

Please allow me to apologize for posting here, but why don't you just buy a present for yourself as per Reaganomics? There is nothing a woman should like better than seeing her husband happy, and by buying yourself something you like the excess happiness should trickle down to her, thereby increasing net happiness.

Although I can think of one little lady who is hoping for a set of these.

"Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him." One of the neighbors here bought his wife a butter churn last year.

I know it is convenient to buy butter already made at the store, but I have to admit watching her struggle with the thing makes her fresh biscuits taste all that much better with the homemade butter on them.

Don't spoil the surprise, but I think this years Christmas present is a bee hive for her to tend.
Jud 1:15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are unGodly among them of all their unGodly deeds which they have unGodly committed, and of all their hard [speeches] which unGodly sinners have spoken against him.

I think this is reasonable, used of course. A new machine would send the wrong message, especially in this economy.

By no means a dryer. There's nothing wrong with a laundry basket, a clothesline and God's gift of the wind. A good way for her to get some exercise as well.

I don't have a wife, thank you Jesus. So I think I will spoil myself with a new Rolls Royce this year. May be a few new hunting rifles.

That's always a good idea. I really missed you during the annual witch hunt this year.

I see you have been talking to Widow Helen!

Yes, I know, she needs a new set of kitchen knives. Again.

She goes through them like crazy! I swear, every batch of her meat pies seems to cost her at least one, if not two knives. I have no idea what she's doing with them; she says they just break.

I think I'll get her some extra-sturdy ones this year. American made, of course, not that cheap Japanese Ginsu crap. (She went through a whole set of those in a three-month period back in 2008.)

I'm thinking Lamson & Goodnow; you folks in Iowa might want to buy from Rada.

My wife told me I was no longer romantic, so I booked a table for the two of us on Valentine's Night. Problem was she sucks at Pool!
