    Re: Don't watch Avatar!

Yeah, I got a problem with Avatar too - I didn't think it was violent enough. OK, there was killing, but it was all a bunch of cartoonish aliens - everyone knew it was fantasy.

Realistic violence is the key. What good is a movie if it doesn't make people paranoid about their neighbors and thus drive sales of guns, ammunition, attack dogs, tasers, burglar alarms and private security services? Or movies that motivate people to become all patriotic and vote Republican, and sign up their sons for military service.

If people feel secure and safe in their homes, they might start paying attention to liberal politicians who talk about real bread and butter issues. That's dangerous. We want voters to support "law and order" politicians who are determined to trash the Constitution and build a monolithic police state, in order to keep us safe.

That's where Hollywood comes in. As Christians we need to be promoting wholesome family films, like RoboCop, We Were Soldiers, and Natural Born Killers. And of course, TV shows like 24 so that Americans know it's OK to torture Muslims.

Remember, movies and TV shows are not about "entertainment" - our media is meant to serve a higher, Godly purpose.

      Re: Don't watch Avatar!

My fiancee told me she saw a trailer for this movie while out shopping at an electronics store, and I didn't think much of it. However after reading this thread I am shocked at what this movie is REALLY about. I will absolutely not ever watch such filth. I'll be informing my family members immediately.

Be glad you were warned before having to walk out of the theatre shouting out loud!
I take my orders from Jesus H. Christ, supernatural born US citizen

Be wary of false Kumbaya Christians who use a highlighter and scissors to read the Bible. God wants us to read the lines, not between the lines. False Christians will go to Hell:
        Matthew 7:22
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Matthew 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Asking a Christian to prove God exists is like asking him to prove his phone rings because yours doesn't. Make that call yourself! Dial 0800-get-on-your-knees-and-pray.

          Re: Don't watch Avatar!

I do not usually watch movies. However, I would be interested to know if anybody has seen the only movie I was interested in, Sodom and Gomorrah, (trailer found here http://sodomandgomorrahthemovie.com/home.htm). I am interested to see it, as I believe it accurately modernizes the evil of homosexuality, and I could not begin to imagine the pain of a wife who's husband is queer.

            Maybe is misjudged this movie

They say its a trait of the TrueChristian™ to recognize his own failings. Maybe I was too quick to misjudge the movie. From the Associated Press

"Since the film opened to widespread critical acclaim three weeks ago, hundreds of blog posts, newspaper articles, tweets and YouTube videos have said things such as the film is "a fantasy about race told from the point of view of white people" and that it reinforces "the white Messiah fable"

If the Liberals are against it, there must be something redeeming about the show. I now remember that it was a white man who saved the blue-green skinned savages. If it gets our youth reminded that the REAL MESSIAH was white, then it may have some value.

              Re: Don't watch Avatar!

IMO, Avatar was a great movie with an excellent plot.

We are humans, and as humans we are destructive by nature, because we always seek bigger and better things. The humans in the movie had no right whatsoever to destroy a planet that was not their own, and the murder of the indigenous population without any justification is just...unacceptable. How would you like someone blowing up your house just because it sits over something extremely valuable to them?

              No thanks, I'll pass.

              Best of luck.

So you want to give America back to the Indians? After all , they were sitting in their teepees on perfectly fine farmland when the white man carefully moved them to the reservations and planted good Iowa corn, and established Landover Baptist church to praise the LORD. What is more important to you, savages going on the warpath and chasing buffalo or feeding the world and serving JESUS?

Actually, there is a move called Aviator which like Avatar is not about what you'd think. I would suggest not going to see any movies at all in the future without first asking here.

There are several passages in the Bible that make it clear that God expects us to take care of His creation.

Genesis 1:26. Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth and over all the creatures that move along the ground."

Lev. 25:23-24. The land is mine and you are but aliens and my tenants. Throughout the country that you hold as a possession, you must provide for the redemption of the land.

Ezekiel 34:2-4. Woe to the shepherds of Israel who only take care of themselves! Should not the shepherds take care of the flock? You eat the curds, clothe yourselves with the wool and slaughter the choice animals, but you did not take care of the flock! You have not strengthened the weak or healed the sick or bound up the injured. You have not brought back the strays or searched for the lost. You have ruled them harshly and brutally.

Ezekiel 34:10. 0 shepherds, hear the word of the Lord. This is what the sovereign Lord says: I am against the shepherds and will hold them accountable for my flock.

Ezekiel 34:17-18. As for you, my flock... Is it not enough for you to feed on good pasture? Must you also trample the rest of your pasture with your feet? Is it not enough for you to drink clear water? Must you also muddy the rest with your feet?

Isaiah 24:4-6. The earth dries up and withers, the world languished and withers, the exalted of the earth languish. The earth lies under its inhabitants; for they have transgressed the laws, violated the statutes, and broken the everlasting covenant. Therefore a curse consumes the earth; its people must bear their guilt.

Jer. 2:7. I brought you into a fertile land to eat its fruit and rich produce. But you came and defiled my land and you made my inheritance detestable.

Luke 16:2,10,13. And He called him and said to him, "What is this I hear about you? Give an account of your stewardship, for you can no longer be steward. He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much; and he who is unrighteous in a very little thing is unrighteous in much. You cannot serve both God and mammon.

James 5:5. You have lived luxuriously on the earth and led a life of wanton pleasure; you have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter.

Mark 4:19. ...and the worries of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word and it becomes unfruitful.

Revelation 11:18. The nations were angry and your wrath has come. The time has come for rewarding your servants the prophets and your saints and those who reverence your name, both small and great - and for destroying those who destroy the earth.

Although i can see where many of your opinions are coming from, i dont believe many of you understand the true undertones of this film.

Avatar's meaning, and these are given facts not opinions, the film is about the fued between the native west indians and the Americans.

Please do not think i dont understand where many of your views come from, i understand many of your points, however i have seen the film and although some aspects may seem uneeded, take into account what the film is truely about.

The scantily clad beings are not in the film to be sexually explicit, they are the beings who represent the west indians.

i do not expect you all to change your opinions about this film however before you condemn the film please appreciate that not everything can be taken at face value.

                              ...Really?

So NOW its okay for the Word of God to be symbolic and figurative and not taken at face value, but everything thing else that is written is the literal will of our Lord, when its convenient for you????????

This passage is deeply symbolic as God speaks unto Mankind. That you should quote a book that is a travesty of the Bible KJV1611 is bad enough, that you should capture it for your false cause is unforgivable!

Re:11:18: And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.
This refers to sinners whose iniquity destroyed the world.

Sir, you are beyond contempt that you should use the Word of the Lord (and use a false version) falsely to further your idiotic ends!
