Why the Apocrypha isn't in the bible

    Found this. Interesting huh?

Why the Apocrypha Isn't in the Bible.
    1. Not one of the apocryphal books is written in the Hebrew language, which was alone used by the inspired historians and poets of the Old Testament. All Apocryphal books are in Greek, except one which is extant only in Latin.
    2. None of the apocryphal writers laid claim to inspiration.
    3. The apocryphal books were never acknowledged as sacred scriptures by the Jews, custodians of the Hebrew scriptures (the apocrypha was written prior to the New Testament). In fact, the Jewish people rejected and destroyed the apocrypha after the overthow of Jerusalem in 70 A.D.
    4. The apocryphal books were not permitted among the sacred books during the first four centuries of the real Christian church (I'm certainly not talking about the Catholic religion which is not Christian).
    5. The Apocrypha contains fabulous statements which not only contradict the "canonical" scriptures but themselves. For example, in the two Books of Maccabees, Antiochus Epiphanes is made to die three different deaths in three different places.
    6. The Apocrypha includes doctrines in variance with the Bible, such as prayers for the dead and sinless perfection. The following verses are taken from the Apocrypha translation by Ronald Knox dated 1954: Basis for the doctrine of purgatory:
2 Maccabees 12:43-45, 2.000 pieces of silver were sent to Jerusalem for a sin-offering...Whereupon he made reconciliation for the dead, that they might be delivered from sin.
      Salvation by works:
Ecclesiasticus 3:30, Water will quench a flaming fire, and alms maketh atonement for sin. Tobit 12:8-9, 17, It is better to give alms than to lay up gold; for alms doth deliver from death, and shall purge away all sin.
      Magic:
Tobit 6:5-8, If the Devil, or an evil spirit troubles anyone, they can be driven away by making a smoke of the heart, liver, and gall of a fish...and the Devil will smell it, and flee away, and never come again anymore.
Mary was born sinless (immaculate conception):
Wisdom 8:19-20, And I was a witty child and had received a good soul. And whereas I was more good, I came to a body undefiled.
    7. It teaches immoral practices, such as lying, suicide, assasination and magical incantation.
    8. No apocryphal book is referred to in the New Testament whereas the Old Testament is referred to hundreds of times.
    9. Because of these and other reasons, the apocryphal books are only valuable as ancient documents illustrative of the manners, language, opinions and history of the East.

Yes, clearly anything as ludicrous as to contradict itself can't be from God. That is why we TRUE Christians(tm) only accept The Bible (KJV1611)

The entire bible is contradicting itself really isn't it? With the commandment 'Thou shalt not kill.' and then the numerous amounts of murder with God's aid?

You can't tell the difference between murder and exectution/capital punishment?

If God is the lawgiver and the judge, how can you say -
        "God is guilty of murder"?

There is no contradiction in The Bible. If you would bother to read it you would know that those who God commands to be killed are sinners who have killed themselves by their sins. TRUE Christian™ theologians call this Christian Assisted Suicide (CAS).

Son, the only Bible acceptable to TRUE CHRISTIANS(TM) is the KJV1611 (Authorized) Bible which includes

Apocrypha of the King James Version

                1 Esdras

                2 Esdras

                Tobit

                Judith

                Rest of Esther

                Wisdom

                Ecclesiasticus

                Baruch

                Epistle of Jeremy

                Song of the Three Children

                Story of Susanna

The Idol Bel and the Dragon

                Prayer of Manasses

                1 Maccabees

                2 Maccabees
So...if you cannot even agree what the Bible IS, how can you argue with us about what it SAYS?

Suicide is not even in the bible. I always try to wrap my small pea brain around this one.

                    The Bible records seven suicides.

                    Abimelech
Judges 9:52-54 Abimelech lacked personal identity.

                    Samson
Judges 16:25-30 Samson died for a cause he believed in and for revenge.

                    Saul
1 Samuel 31:4 Saul was stressed out, unable to live up to certain expectations; felt rejected and a failure.

                    Saul's armor-bearer
1 Samuel 31:5 Impulse, he wanted to die with his boss.

                    Ahithophel
2 Samuel 17:23 Ahithophel was bitter because his advice was not followed.

                    Zimri
1 Kings 16:15-20 Rebellion; Zimri had a problem with authority.

                    Judas
Matthew 27:3-5 Depressed, Judas felt trapped by materialism and guilt. Plus he had it coming for selling out our Savior.

But what does the Bible say about taking your own life?

God has a great plan for your life. God has created us in His image (Genesis 1:26-27). He created us for a purpose. God has a specific plan in mind for everyone. Even queers sometimes.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11).

God's plan is for life. Jesus will decide when you need to be killed, not you. The Bible teaches that both physical and spiritual death are the result of our sin and disobedience to God, but eternal life is a gift to those who receive it.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23).

Jesus taught that death and destruction are the work of “the thief” (Satan). He said,

The thief comes only to steal and destroy (John 10:10).

John 8:44 says that Satan is a “murderer” and the “father of lies.” The feelings of despair that lead to suicide are caused by some of his lies.

Jesus wants us to have life. At least until He decides otherwise. He said:

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full (John 10:10).

Life belongs to God. It is never our place to take our own life or someone else's life. Unless they're a queer or a witch or they reject God, etc.

Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God's grace. You are not your own owner, you were bought at a price. The Blood of Christ!

Therefore honor God with your body (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

                    Any questions, pea-brain?
                    Who Will Jesus Damn?

Here is a partial list from just a few scripture verses:

Hypocrites (Matthew 24:51), The Unforgiving (Mark 11:26), Homosexuals (Romans 1:26, 27), Fornicators (Romans 1:29), The Wicked (Romans 1:29), The Covetous (Romans 1:29), The Malicious (Romans 1:29), The Envious (Romans 1:29), Murderers (Romans 1:29), The Deceitful (Romans 1:29), Backbiters (Romans 1:30), Haters of God (Romans 1:30), The Despiteful (Romans 1:30), The Proud (Romans 1:30), Boasters (Romans 1:30), Inventors of evil (Romans 1:30), Disobedient to parents (Romans 1:30), Covenant breakers (Romans 1:31), The Unmerciful (Romans 1:31), The Implacable (Romans 1:31), The Unrighteous (1Corinthians 6:9), Idolaters (1Corinthians 6:9), Adulterers (1Corinthians 6:9), The Effeminate (1Corinthians 6:9), Thieves (1Corinthians 6:10), Drunkards (1Corinthians 6:10), Reviler (1Corinthians 6:10), Extortioners (1Corinthians 6:10), The Fearful (Revelation 21:8), The Unbelieving (Revelation 21:8), The Abominable (Revelation 21:8), Whoremongers (Revelation 21:8), Sorcerers (Revelation 21:8), All Liars (Revelation 21:8)

And if you reject God's grace, and refuse to honor Him, there'll be some pretty harsh consequences:

Revelation 9:6 And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.

If you offend God badly enough, He won't even let you commit suicide. Sounds like it might be a good idea to just unquestioningly follow every single one of His commands, eh?
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.

God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.

Pope Paul III was worried by the rising tide of Protestantism in Europe, against some opposition, he called a council. Because of troubles in various parts the Council met 3 times, the first meeting was at Trento. The idea was to establish, once and for all what the church believed. The church in this case was the church of Rome and what would be decided would be that the Protestants were wrong. Protestants were invited under safe conduct but they were told they would not be allowed to vote. No Protestants went to any of the council meetings.

At the first meeting, 1545, the question of the Apocrypha was addressed and the Council declared, "He is also to be anathema who does not receive these entire books, with all their parts, as they have been accustomed to be read in the Catholic Church, and are found in the ancient editions of the Latin Vulgate, as sacred and canonical."

The Protestants knew that only the books written in the Hebrew should be canonical.

The church of Rome thus effectively challenged the Protestants and the undecided. The Protestants stood firm against the pope.
