First of all, why should I trust anything "god" inspires his sycophants to write? He would of course paint the best possible picture of himself.

Second, let's take a look at a few passages.

1 Kings 22:23: Now, therefore, behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the Lord hath spoken evil concerning thee.

Ezekiel 14:9: And if a prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I the Lord have deceived that prophet.

2 Thessalonians 2:11: For this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie.

JRFinn, I am glad you posted this Scripture because it proves everything about you. God has put delusions into people's minds and have caused them to believe a lie. YOU for one believe a lie (atheism). Therefore you are proving the Holy Bible to be correct, thus the Word of God(c), thus God's existence.

Those three verses you quoted in your defense actually backfire on you because they describe people like you. Those that are deceived, delusional, and speak lies.

So by your very example you have proven Scripture to be true! Are you ready to accept Christ as your lord and savior now? And if not, how could you not when the Bible has been proven true before your very eyes?

The two quotes mentions prophets specifically, which is a warning against false prophets like Muhammed and Joseph Smith, among others.

The Thessalonians quote is rather catch-all and explains all sorts of delusion, including atheism. Obviously Paul was inspired by God, otherwise he wouldn't have written this which is completely relevant to today's times.

So what do you fall under...the false prophets or the atheists?

I read the bible the exact same way you do. It is a terrible book, and it is my fondest wish that no one actually believed it. I do believe in an absolute moral standard, it's just not to be found in the pages of a book of bronze/iron age myths.

I read the bible the exact same way you do. It is a terrible book, and it is my fondest wish that no one actually believed it. I do believe in an absolute moral standard, it's just not to be found in the pages of a book of bronze/iron age myths.
