In this photograph, is the earth in FRONT OF or BEHIND the sun? It seems to me, it's in front of the sun.

Okay, so if you move away from the earth AND sun at the same time (since earth is in front of the sun in the photograph), isn't it logical that they BOTH become smaller?

So when you look:

(sun) ...... (you)(earth) --> sun is small, earth is gigantic

This is how the photograph was taken:

(sun) ....... (earth) ........ (you) ---> sun is gigantic, earth is small

So what gives??

The picture is three picture put into one. The comparitive sizes of the Earth and Jupiter if they were put in front of the Sun. They are all extremely accurate and that is how it would appear to our eyes if we were at that distance from the sun (and not blinded).

Science has discovered so many incredible things today that you guys can't appreciate! if only you knew how exciting it was.
Honest question, is it a sin to learn about the universe and read about modern science?

It's not stated in the bible how ar the sun or the moon or the heavens are right?
Can't we assume huge astronomical distances? If the sun where 500 miles above us we could fly there.
If the moon was closer to the earth than the sun was to the earth (eclipse proving moon is between earth and sun) we could fly to the moon easy.

If you view a car from 100 miles you don't see it.
If you view a 3 mile tall mountain from 100 miles you see it quite well.


Same for the sun, if you view an object that is 150 times the diameter of our planets, even from millions of miles away it will be visible.

We love science around here, just not pseudo-science. If done correctly, science actually lines up with the Bible amazingly well. Science is just a secular way to discover a bit about the mechanics of the universe. True Christianity is a way to discover the ways of the Creator of that universe.

Yes. If the sun were a nuclear reaction, it would have to be further away. Since it is made from coal, 500 miles is about right.

if the heat from the sun came from coal then:

1.there would need to be oxygen for the coal to burn (which there isint in space)

2. a source of the coal in the first place for it is not renewable and would have gone out millions of years ago.

so nuclear fusion is a more plausible explanation.

We do accept science as long as it agrees with the BIBLE (KJV) and common sense. Before we started home schooling our children, the science teacher taught our kids the same silliness you apparently were told. THink about it. They claim the earth is 4000 miles in radius and rotates on its axis once each day. That would mean that you and I are traveling at (speed = 2*pi*radius/time) at more than a thousand miles per hour. That is faster than the speed of sound. We would be flung right of the earth.

No, of course we can't assume that. The reason we can't fly to the sun is that we would be incinerated before we came even near. Even the Godless Greek knew this, and they made up a myth about it.
