I disagree, as a geologist, I can put forward any hypothesis to be further explored, but my research has to conclude evidence of such event to prove the hypothesis, whether mathematically, or geologically.
Putting forward a theological hypothesis by a creationist has no less importance than a geological hypothesis, except that there can be found NO, empirical evidence that would support such a theory, therefore it is often dismissed. And rightly so, it would be a waste of manpower and money to forego geological research in mythical hypothesis with no evidence. And the Bible isn't evidence.
