How is that ridiculous? They say the universe is 13,750,000,000, not that the earth has been around for 13,750,000,000 years, or that humanity has been around for 13,750,000,000 years. Simply that the universe is that old. And may I point out that I have read the Bible many times, and have not came across any passage that specifically contradicts this.

Even if you don't believe in science, it only takes common sense to know that the earth is round. Lets say you go to a big long field, or better yet, a river or an ocean. You'll notice that there's a point where you can't see anything, called the horizon. You may argue that this would still happen if the earth was flat, but I'm not done yet. Now let's say you climb up a very large tower or a mountain. You'll notice that you can see further than you could when you were on the ground. This is because the earth is round, and you're sort of "peering over" the horizon. If the earth was flat, you'd still be able to see the same distance.


Now, before you respond, let me ask one favor. I've noticed you people have the tendency to take one small part of a post and attack just that section. But when you respond to this, please try to respond to the whole post. Not just that the Bible doesn't mention how old the earth is, not just the way I worded one specific sentence, the whole post. Thank you.

Obviously there is no actual East and West pole. What I'm saying is that if you took two opposite points on the equator, then those, along with the North and South pole, could be considered the "four corners of the earth"

You are conveniently ignoring the scripture I posted where it says you can see all the kingdoms of the world from a single point of high elevation. The world has to be flat for this scripture to be true, and we know this scripture is true because God is omniscient and He wrote it.

This is bit too vague to take into consideration. Could you be little bit more specific about where you did the test. It's quite impossible to answer if do not know other variables and conditions in this first hand test of yours. How did you determined how far was the point of your furthers sight point on ground level and how did you marked it? What was this hill or tower called you limbed up to see if you could see further? How did you then determine the furthers sight point from high ground and how did you marked this point? What was the difference in distance between these two points to each other and distance to this yet unknown tower/hill you are about to name?

The Bible contradicts science throughout. The age of the Earth can be determined by reference to the genealogical record which is painstakingly kept. The generations of Adam to date are approximately 6,000 years.

Ah yes, humanity starting from Adam is approximately 6,000 years old. This I can agree with. However, I was not referring to how old humanity is. I was referring to how old the universe is.

You'll notice there's a gap between God creating the heaven and the earth and Him creating day and night. For all we know, He could have kicked back and relaxed for another few hundred billion years, or maybe he spent that time shaping and perfecting the universe, or something else (remember that time is meaningless to God, 175 billion years is nothing to him) before he made day and night.

I'm quite sorry to burst your bubble, but either you're lying or what you saw wasn't Australia. Tell me, how did you know that it was Australia? You were about 6,000 miles away; ignoring the fact that you'd have to look past mountains and fog and clouds and whatever else happened to be in the air, the most you'd be able to see is a tiny line way out in the ocean. More likely, you saw Hawaii instead.

Mt. Everest is the highest point of elevation anywhere in the world. From it's summit, the horizon is 211 miles away. Are you saying all the kingdoms of the world were within 422 miles of eachother at the time the Old Testament was written? I assure you they were not.
