If everything is pulled toward the center of the Earth, why do I get the same fuel economy going down to Florida and returning home up north to VA? If 'Gravity' were actually pulling, I should be able to coast all the way down south.

The earth does 'roll around' because of the moon. The angular momentum is distributed between the spin of earth and the angular momentum of its orbit. However, earth has a satellite (moon). Therefore, the earth would be more slower than expected because the total angular momentum is shared between the to objects (earth and moon).

I think these religious people need to put down the book and get the knowledge of science in their heads.

One we know that all planets and suns are round because looking through a telescope. We also know why they're round. Because of gravity. Their gravitational field acts as though it originates from the center of the body and pulls everything towards it.
