Now that we have access to space, the easiest way to prove the Earth is spherical is to leave it and view it from a distance. Astronauts and space probes have done just that. Every picture of Earth ever taken shows only a circular shape, and the only geometric solid which looks like a circle from any direction is a sphere.

This is not true. Technically, the Earth's shape is a flattened cylinder. Obviously if the astronauts are going up in space, and look down, they will see a circular earth.

One of the oldest proofs of the Earth's shape, however, can be seen from the ground and occurs during every lunar eclipse. The geometry of a lunar eclipse has been known since ancient Greece. When a full Moon occurs in the plane of Earth's orbit, the Moon slowly moves through Earth's shadow. Every time that shadow is seen, its edge is round. Once again, the only solid that always projects a round shadow is a sphere.

And again, I say a flattened cylinder will project a round shadow.

A lunar eclipse happens when the moon passes in front of the sun, blocking out the light. I don't see how that proves the Earth is round.

Yes, you're right of course. I thought it would be better to simplify things a little, to make them easier to understand for those obviously mentally challenged people. You wouldn't try to explain quantum physics to a kid, would you?

The earth is round, try this one experiment for me and see if it works. Start walking east or west(Wait i forgot you were stupid) Start walking left or right for a really really long time and you'll end up on the same spot. How could you do that if the earth the flat? Wait a second... If the earth was round that could work out perfectly wouldnt it?

And for your pickup metaphor. If you jumped on a pickup you would land in the same spot and not fall out. As newton once said "Objects in motion, stay in motion." If you jumped while a pickup was traveling at 30 miles and hour, in turn you would be traveling 30 miles an hour. So when you jumped you would land in the exact same spot where you jumped from. Because you would be going the same speed as the pickup. If you dont believe me please try it.

The Earth is circular in every photo, even though there are photos taken from its "side". If Earth was a flattened cylinder, then we would be able to see its edge.

You're describing a solar eclipse. You do not understand what is a lunar eclipse.

You are very wrong. You certainly don't know half as much as I do about astronomy and science in general. Let me get this straight:

- A solar eclipse is caused by the moon passing between Earth and Sun, obstructing our view of the latter. There are different kinds of this phenomenon, but this is not important right now.
- A lunar eclipse occurs when the moon is passing through the area of the night sky where Earth casts its shadow. We can see the moon disappear for a long while.

The most obvious difference is that the solar eclipse can only be observed during the day, while the lunar eclipse can be observed only during the night.

And just to explain something:

I think you're confusing that with a new moon. That is when the moon is completely dark, as opposed to a full moon.

No, it doesn't prove anything. Google a few more photos to see Earth's sphere from different points. You can't state that every picture that proves you wrong is photoshopped. You, for one, hadn't presented a single picture to prove your "theory".

Every single picture, the Earth looks as flat as a silver dollar. Not one picture, does it look like a ball or 'sphere' as you people say. We are not stupid you know. Do you honestly think the Bible would have wrong information in it? And after all these years and all your so called 'scientists', don't you think if the Bible were actually wrong, someone would of said something? How would you like to see as a sphere in a flat picture? Also, if it was flat, it would not be round in every picture. Take a picture of your silver dollar from different angles and you'll see what I mean. The only solid which looks round from every possible angle is.... a sphere.

All right, I admit that the Bible is in fact full of truth and general wisdom, but:
a) it was written ages ago and people did not perceive the reality in the same way we do, therefore they wrote simplier about many things than they actually are
b) it is not to be understood literally, which means there are metaphors, parallels and other constructions meant to give it a deeper meaning

How about the fact that you can sit in your chair without floating off to space? There have been numerous experiments which proved all aspects of Einstein's theory, like gravitational lensing, time relativity and the fact that mass changes with the speed you're going with. It has been even used in practice. The satellites have to recallibrate its clocks because of the time dilation. If they didn't, the GPS would be very inaccurate.

There have been numerous experiments which proved all aspects of Einstein's theory, like gravitational lensing, time relativity and the fact that mass changes with the speed you're going with.

Have you actually observed these experiments or did you just read about them?

Every single picture of the Earth is a picture of it looking as flat as a pancake. Show me one that shows is as a complete spherical object. No photoshopping please.

How about the fact that you can sit in your chair without floating off to space? There have been numerous experiments which proved all aspects of Einstein's theory, like gravitational lensing, time relativity and the fact that mass changes with the speed you're going with. It has been even used in practice. The satellites have to recallibrate its clocks because of the time dilation. If they didn't, the GPS would be very inaccurate.

I did not observe time dilation, because it's impossible for most people, we do not live in environment where relativity applies. If you want to say that I should not believe anything I haven't seen for myself, have you ever been to the moon? If not, why do you believe it's there?

I am not saying there is anything wrong with reading about the truth. Like you I get my information from a book as well, the Holy Bible. It explains everything in a consistent way and also assures I will be in Heaven after I die. Great book.
