I don't understand? why does this Christian sect refute the claim the earth is round? couldn't God have made it that way, and therefor it's good? I can't recall any specific verse that says 'the world is flat' . Personally as a christian I am okay with the fact the earth is round, and it has nothing to do with my faith in God

This immense size makes it seem as though the Earth stays still. Gravity exists. You prove it with your "Jump!" experiment. Without gravity, anyone who's ever jumped would be floating in space. If the Earth were flat, no one could reach China by traveling West, only East.
