im sorry but i will not be trying that so called "exeriment" that involves the flatbed as i know the results before i even attemt it, here's one for you, get in an aeroplane wait untill it gets to 30,000 feet and there's two experements you can try your self here, first its to simply look out side of a window and you can see the curviture of the earth, proving that it is in fact a sphere and second, jump straight up in the air, seeing as the crusing speed of your average jet aircraft is approxamatly 300mph, if you jump just 2 foot into the air on this plane, then you will see that there is no AIR RESITANCE, why, because it has an outer shell, like the ATMOSPHERE

The first question, The reason you dont end up far away from your starting destination after a jump is because you are moving with the earth at the same speed. The atmosphere is also rotating at the same speed with the earth. Imagine your riding in a car, the car is the earth in this analogy. Inside the confines of the car, the air surrounding you is also moving at a fixed speed based on your car's speed. Take something, a ball for instance and toss it in the air, does the ball go backwards at 60 miles per hour through your windshield? No, it goes up and back down. The reason you would fall out of a pickup truck if you jumped off the back is because the truck is going in a certain direction at say, 60 miles per hour, but the air around it is still. So when you jump up, the force pushing your forward at 60 miles per hour (the truck) is no longer pushing you along and you hit the air (which is still) which resists your movement (like jumping into a pool of water but much less viscous). So your speed decreases to say, 40 miles per hour but the truck is continuing at 60 miles per hour due to the driving force of its engine. Thats why you fall out.

Ok, next one

The balloon and paper thing doesn't work because the gravitational pull of the earth is much stronger than the gravitational pull of a latex balloon so the paper will naturally fall to the object with more pull.

Now you say that no one could live below the equator. In a model of the earth where gravity never existed, what is the force holding you to the earth above the equator? It would have to be gravity or some force like it would it not?

Gravity is not a one directional force, It pulls from all sides equally. Everything that has mass has gravity, even in minuscule, un-measurable amounts. Without gravity, how would we have things in orbit, how would we have satellites that the military uses, how would we have years, seasons, tides, timezones, an orbit around the sun even.

If your one of those wacko's that refuses to belive the earth revolves arround the sun, I reccomend you read F.W. Bessel's (1825) dissertation which is completely repeatable and provable (you can do it in your own home given the time and equipment).

Explain to me this, how come as ships sail across the sea, the last thing you can see is the tip of their mast? Why, when your standing on the east coast can you not watch a ship until it entirely goes out of view? I live on the coast and have seen it first hand, as ships sail into the horizon, the first part of them to disappear is the hull, while the last part of them to leave my view is the tip of the mast.

I normally wouldn't have gone through the trouble of registering but I saw that some of you idiots are going to use these "experiments" to home school your children. Point 19: I dont know what books your talking about, astronomers account for the entire earth, there is no "cutting".

Maybe I will have to go back and look at the first point but as far as I can tell, its faulty logic. The author doesn't understand that latitude goes from (the north down) +90 degrees to 0 degrees (at the equator) and down to -90 degrees at the south pole.

Even if something is stupid like spinning around in a circle, does it not prove that your senses can be tricked? Miracles of god have nothing to do with it whether you believe in them or not, they are not tricking of the senses or at least I don't believe they are. Are you saying that miracles are simply tricks that your senses experience?

What are you talking about "some whacky decoder ring". All I am saying is directions is subjective to location. If you are facing west, you would have to turn "right" to head north but if you are facing east, you would have to turn "left". That is just one example of direction being subjective.

Im going to wait for the other guy to respond because these points dont even warrant an argument and I hope there are some people on these forums that are intelligent enough to see that.
