Science, modern technology, popular opinion, NONE of these things matter to people who are committed to a Biblical world view. Nothing you have to say on any subject really relates to what we care about here at Landover Baptist. We are here to discuss God's perspective on the universe that God created, and that includes the moon.


Please start bringing Bible references into your posts so that we can have a meaningful discussion. Thank you.

If you take the hyperliteral approach to the bible there are various verses that can imply the Earth is flat. Here's a few:


Revelation 7:1
And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.


Psalm 104:5
He set the Earth on it's foundations, it can never be moved.


Matthew 4:8
Again the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high moutain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them


The people at take this hyperliteral approach therefor it is their view the Earth is flat.

As for doing anything just because you told me to. . . well, to quote Proverbs 17:22. "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine; but a broken spirit drieth the bones." Thanks for the laugh.


Also, why is that your sort of visitor always takes such a nasty tone with the likes of me, hmm? You guys never come across that tough when dealing with the male members of our little community. It almost seems as if my sweet manner and adorable avatar makes me an easy target for smug, self-important bullies.

I mean over head as in Local Apperant Lunar Noon, the time in which case the moon falls onto your latitude and is straight up.

Regardless of which model you use, the moon is always in direct line of sight. There are 3 essential models.

1. The moon is set in the firmament and the firmament moves. Clearly there is no way for Robert The Bruce to not be in plain sight. Your gaze is afferent from the moon's perspective regardless of whether you think its markings look like a Scottish king.

2. God is very clear that the sun and the moon are both set in The Firmament; nevertheless their positions relative to one another change. That means the method of attachment is dynamic. In the case of an igloo, the pressure of the coin against the ice enables it to slide around, like ice skates on ice. Perhaps the sunlight assists in this. The sun's radiation is efferent from its perspective.

3. In both the above models the moon is round. Clearly if it were spinning around on the axis of a line from the moon to your head it would always appear round and the markings would always be about the same. As they are. If it spun on some other axis, a chord or tangent across the roof in my igloo example, we'd see it change shape differently from what we observe. MODEL THREE proposes a ball-shaped moon to get around this. Unfortunately then its markings would change if that were the case, quite apart from it becoming unnecessarily complicated.

4. It could spin around like a yoyo on a string I suppose, in which case you'd see epicycles. But you don't. So it isn't.

That is not how it works. You have to bring examples, facts and data to support your argument. On this forum the only source is the Bible, you won´t convince True Christians(TM) with anything else. You might convince me if you brought anything to sustain your claim.
