no, you obviously dont know how oasis's work. Oasis's are formed around natural springs which is the water source for them. the sand has nothing at all to do with it, otherwise water would dissapear in dams because theres no sand to hold it in. sand will not protect against rising sea levels, especially not with the amount we have currently on beaches, unless you propose we build a wall around all the continents however it wouldnt matter what the wall was made of

How about we do an experiment:

Get a bucket of nice dry sand. Now take some water - fresh or brine will do. Pour the water into the bucket of sand. Notice how the sand absorbs all the water as if it isn't even there and becomes dry on the surface?

By the way, don't waste my time saying that if you keep on pouring in water it overtops the sand - you just recreated the sea in a bucket.
