It seems like just yesterday scientists were telling everybody the moon is made of cheese. Now they say it is made of rocks. What's next? Tapioca pudding? I mean science is just getting ridiculous.

I don't accept that "the moon does it" just because some so-called scientist says so.

The moon, according to these scientists, is 239,000 miles away. How can it control the tides? Why doesn't the moon crash into the Earth? If its so-called gravity is so strong that it can pull on an entire ocean how come the little spacecraft they supposedly landed on it could take off without those huge rockets they needed to lift of from the Earth? How come it can rain and snow at night? Wouldn't the moon hold the rain droplets in the sky? Why don't toliets overflow at night? Leaves float of water. Shouldn't leaves float up into the sky at night in the Fall since they are lighter than water? Shouldn't we be able to jump higher at night?

It just doesn't add up.

Sub atomic Particle motion has nothing to do with gravity gravity is a force that has to do with math.

Math has something to do with virtually everything, including gravity and subatomic particle motion. It has to do with nutrition, aerodynamics, baseball, public parks, France, spiders, intuition, ceilings, ball bearings, trucks, and Alpha Centauri, to name a few things. One thing that math has nothing to do with however is your claim that subatomic particle motion and gravity are unrelated. Why do you bring up the relationship between gravity and math, if not because you are a total idiot?

One hole in the theory of gravity which atheists and scientists refuse to explain is the so-called "Moon."

Secularists say the Moon is a ball of rock hundreds of thousands of miles away from Earth, and yet it orbits our planet.

The reason why atheists or scientists don't understand gravity is because they don't believe in God. But true Christians KNOW it is GOD who holds the universe together, GOD IS gravity, and dark matter is the devil's filthy work. Something which can't be seen, heard, touched, and only talked about, must be a truly unholy thing .

Is it a particle or a wave? How fast does it go? What is it about mass that causes it to exist?

Since we don't understand the exact mechanism for gravity, I think everyone would have to agree that it is possible that since God created and set the laws of gravity into motion, that it is God who controls it all.

Hello Levi, this is such an interesting topic and I am glad to see it has caused so much discussion in the name of Jesus. I think that while gravity is very interesting and important (to us in our daily lives, that is), it is not something that we can use to argue for or against God. Regardless of if there is God or no God (or a pagan god), gravity still exists. But how to explain something that we can't see?

Well its easy. We can't see microwaves....yet they work! We can't see bacteria...but our medicines fight them off! We can't see Tension or Weight or Force...yet massive bridges are erected that somehow let us drive over them day and night without somehow crashing down. Is Jesus down there holding up the bridge? Is it God that pushes (or pulls) two objects of different size and weight to the ground when dropped from the same height? No. While God may have created the place where this stuff happens, and the rules that govern patterns (like if I let go of something, it will fall, every time) of physical existence, he obviously gave us the mental capacity to pick up on some of it, and figure some of it out. I submit at this time that we do know what Gravity is, and I will attempt to show so in a few ways.

To begin, gravity is neither a particle nor a wave. Gravity is a force which, along with the 3 other forces make up the current understanding of physics. Gravity is vicariously described in Einstiens famous (E=mc2) equation as a resulting phenomenon of the curvature of spacetime. It can be shown using various mathematical equations (which always work, except at the center of black holes [which are theoretical anyway]). Every object which exists has mass. Some objects have more mass than others. Those that are more massive exert more gravity on those that are less massive. For example when you drop a ball, it falls to the center of the Earth... no matter where you are! you could be on opposite corners of the Earth and the ball will always fall down- this is what we call gravity. IF you can provide me with evidence of a case when a ball dropped did not fall towards the center of the Earth.....congratulations! You will have just proven that we really don't have a clue what Gravity is.

tl;dr: I know what gravity is! It is a force that attracts objects. Every object with mass has gravity and you can actually calculate it with a pen and paper (or in your head if you are smart). To prove this I can drop a ball and it will always fall towards the Earth, or I could calculate the gravitational force between any two objects, if you knew the mass of each (or some constant that could be converted into a mass)

Bonus: regardless of how little we may know about the exact mechanism of gravity (most likely some sub-atomic/quantum interaction that we will discover within the next few years, much like the mathematical proof of the Higgs-Boson particle confirmed our theory of mass a few years ago), Humanity has successfully launched multiple objects off our our Earth and millions of miles into space, many of which have 'somehow' managed to navigate the gravitational pull of every object in their paths and are still reporting back to us! Gravity is truly a beautiful thing and I cannot wait to learn more about it. I cannot wait to hear your thoughts on this matter and I hope that if I am wrong on these points you will help guide my ignorance, thank you. -aUS

The only reason man has managed to defy gravity is because GOD has allowed him to. All movements within space and time are due to the complete control of HIM, without which we would all be frozen on the spot, unable to reach for our bibles to pray to the good LORD to allow us to move. He was gracious enough to allow us relatively free movement in 2 dimension, and partial movement in the third, this small allowance of which is to fool us into thinking we may someday make our way to his holy kingdom without his consent.

The Lord is truly gracious in giving us this freedom of movement, and yet he taketh it away lest we stray unto the dark ones path by filling our heads with knowledge. By keeping our minds completely void of all but the holy scripture, we are light enough to soar into Gods arms.

It amazes me how scientists and their followers are prepared to live with so much doubt in their lives. How can you live like that? As a Christian, I'm 100% certain of what -- and, more importantly, whom (2 Tim 1:12b)-- I believe in and that God has told me 100% of what I need to know in His Word, the Bible. I have no room for doubt. So when scientists tell me that they know how this, this and this works but can't yet explain how this, this and this works, I switch off. I'm also taken aback by your confidence that scientists will discover the mechanism of gravity in just a few years. If science could make such reliable predictions based on incomplete information, everyone would believe in it.
