You think we don't hear this all the time? It is the oldest cry of the apologist. "We are X; the fact that a lot of people who say they are X commit vile acts, means that they are not X - so no X commits vile acts."

You can substitute anything for X to see the result. Try "Catholic", "Atheist", "Nazi", "Communist", "Homersexyurl" for starters then try "satanist"...
