The problem with this argument is that it works both ways. You can say that atheists believe a certain way because they were brought up in an atheist household, too. Also, there are many cases where this isn't true....many people change their religious beliefs from what they were brought up with.

We have many people part of our congregation that did not grow up in True Christian(tm) circumstances. They were raised atheist, catholic, jew, pentecostal, false liberal "christian", etc. People chose to embrace our message because our message is that of Christ's and it is the Truth(r).

I am so glad that you as individuals take the verse in Deuteronomy completely out of context. Is it not apparent in English that it is meaning consentual sex? NOT RAPE, A.K.A. FORCED SEX.

25But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die. 26But unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbour, and slayeth him, even so is this matter:
27For he found her in the field, and the betrothed damsel cried, and there was none to save her.





Your argument is invalid as you are not taking the word in its entirety, you are building upon the sand not on the Rock. A woman knows when it is rape! Although I do disagree with terminating the life within her womb, it is HER CHOICE, it is the job of God to judge, not you and your self righteous know it all attitude. The purpose of Jesus' death was to establish grace for those who have sinned, not make them a target for all to judge. By staring down your nose at them, and acting as if you are God, you are committing idolatry, saying you know better than the Lord.


Just remember in your life what the Apostle Paul wrote to the Romans.


And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Of course if you are this much of a sadistic follower of the Law, I am probably sure that you have scared your daughter away from Christ and his Love, Forgiveness, and Grace. Maybe you should actually take in the meat of what I was trying to say, instead of treating me as if I know nothing. As a Christian, I refuse to allow the misuse of God's word for personal satisfaction, and manipulation. I again repeat that you are living by the Law of Sin and Death, and not living under the grace of Christ. I do recognize that I made and error, but I do also recognize that you are trying to invalidate my argument by the number of posts I've made.

In all honesty I could not stand by and watch as someone abuses a girl, and the Word of God.

That was both a clever and valiant attempt, but it is of course going to go down in flames.

First of all, Deuteronomy 23:25 says nothing of sex to begin with, and it doesn't even extend to a verse 27. Please put a basic amount of research and self-checking into your arguments.

Furthermore, even the false-Christians who compiled the NIV and other Bibles knew that Deuteronomy 22:28-29 was speaking of rape:

If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered,[...] -NIV

If a man finds a young woman who is a virgin, who is not betrothed, and he seizes her and lies with her, and they are found out[...] -New King James

Notice these do not imply consent? (Of course these are false Bibles but even their false-Christian translators understood the meaning of the terminology. It doesn't take a great scholar.)

Now then, you've also neglected to take note that Deuteronomy 22:25 is giving a separate instruction:

25But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die. 26But unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbour, and slayeth him, even so is this matter:
27For he found her in the field, and the betrothed damsel cried, and there was none to save her.

This is an instruction what to do AFTER the fact, AS LONG as the damsel cried out. Verse 28 tells us what to do if we catch the rapist in the act:

28If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found;

29Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.

You may also notice that 23-24 tell us what to do if the damsel does NOT cry out:

23If a damsel that is a virgin be betrothed unto an husband, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her;
24Then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they die; the damsel, because she cried not, being in the city; and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbour's wife: so thou shalt put away evil from among you.

If you had been taking this chapter in context, you would understand it is a complex set of instructions detailing the course of action we should take in a set of situations that can have multiple variables.

So to recap:

If a rape victim cries loudly but nobody hears: Kill the rapist. (27)

If a rape victim does not cry out loudly: Kill the rapist and the victim. (24)

If you discover a rape taking place: The rapist pays the victim's father and the perpetrator is to marry his victim. (29)

I could not agree more. This is the reason we use the entire Bible here. And not just the parts we like. Many false Christians twist the word of the LORD by conveniently ignoring huge parts of the Bible.
