The shekel is/was a coin. its weight was approx .35 troy ounce. Coins where either made of gold or silver. So the actual value of said female would depend on two things, the first is the shekel gold or silver? Second what is the currant trading price of the metal being used. I can only speculate that silver would be used in the case of a female, thus you have the $190-$250 dollar range.

The other thing to be said is that the metal offered is acceptable to the girls father or other ranking male family member.

This passage is really very clear, and not amenable to any "interpretation" other than its overt meaning.

Read the scriptures. We are not in favor of rape, but once rape happens, this is how the Bible says to deal with it.

Plus, we would never be in favor of killing someone for not knowing Jesus. We would make good and sure they had the opportunity to convert first.

This is exactly why the Bible requires the rapist and the woman to marry! After the rape she is unable to marry anyone else and those unable to bear children and we all know the Bible tells us women are saved through child-bearing. Marrying her rapist is what is best for everybody, otherwise both are doomed to Hell.

If a rapist continues to have (forced) sex with the woman he raped after marriage, then it's not rape or molestation but legal intercourse.

Legal marriage is defined between to accepting parties.

raping and forcing one to be your sex slave is not defined by legal marriage therefore making the legal marriage invalid and against the law and against God.

God set his rules in place and also demanded you follow the laws of the land.
