    Considering accepting my fate.

I was talking to God this morning and he reminded me how everyone one of us is born a sinner and we all deserve to burn for eternity. This got me thinking, if I deserve this punishment, then wouldn't the honourable thing to do is to accept this punishment? I deserve it after all.

Why are we all trying to worm our way out of a punishment we all agree we deserve? We are men of honour, strength and courage. Let's take our deserved punshment.

Forgive me for speaking out of turn, since you were addressing the men, but I spoke with my husband about what I wanted to say and he said I should post it. See below.

True, we sinned and thus we should go to hell. However, Jesus came to die for us and then He triumphed over Death, which was the last enemy to be defeated. 1 Corinthians 15:16 "The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death." Also, if we just burned in Hell and ignored the gift of life Jesus is offering us, wouldn't we be spitting in His face? Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

    Humbly yours in Christ,
    Elizabeth

God and Jesus would get pretty lonely up there, if none of us repented of our sins. It therefore behoves some of us to strive to serve God better and repent of our sins, if only to stop God's boredom. If he were to get too bored, he may blow whole countries up, even if they do deserve it. But there are True Christians(tm) in most countries who don't deserve to be blown up, so we can help them remain in one piece.

Holy Henry, that is an excellent theological question, and it gladdens my heart to see somebody growing in his faith and searching for answers.

God sent His son Jesus to die on a cross in order to keep you out of Hell. He would not have done so unless He very much wanted you to avoid the fate you so richly deserve.

I think you should seek to make God happy, and you can do that by embracing Jesus and therefore not going to Hell.

After all, does an apple tree second guess the owner of an apple orchard? Nope, it just grows, and bears fruit, which is pleasing to the orchard's owner.

Continue to grow in your faith, my friend, and bear fruit which is pleasing to the Lord!

I think the Scripture is quite clear on this subject.

John 3:16-18 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

You are right in that God told us that we all deserve eternal torment in Hell for not obeying even one of His 600+ commandments. But He gave us a beautiful "out" clause that enables whosoever to simply believe in Him 30 seconds before they die and enjoy everlasting fellowship with Him in Paradise. Shout Glory!
