Why Christians should be like the Starec Zosima and take example from Alyosha

    Good morning, American Christians.

I've just finished reading The Brothers Karamazov from Fyodor Dostoevsky and I just wanted to share why you should read it too.

The book is about the spirituality of Russia and it talks about three brothers, sons of a corrupted man.

The character who should be taken as an example is definitely Aleksey Karamazov a.k.a. Alyosha, who wants to be like his own mentor, the starec Zosima and spread the Love of the Gospel to the world, like Jesus would want us to do. And at the same time, he wants to save his own family from Hell.

I want everyone of you to read it, in order to understand why Zosima and Alyosha are definitely role models for our youth.

    Thank you for your attention.

I've got one word for you Catholics, WEIRD.
Isaiah 24:1-3 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty (2)...as the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. (3) The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken his word.

I have read the Bible in its entirety and I lack the commitment to tackle a Russian novel.

Mr. Rovagnati: By now, you should know that no here at is going to be interested in any of your apostasy and demonic utterances. As dear Sister Handmaiden has noted, she has (and we have) read the in its entirety, and there is no reason for us to become distracted due to a silly, little Russian romance novel.

          ChatGPT summarize The Brothers Karamazov.

          Family dynamics:
The novel focuses on the dysfunctional relationship between the three brothers and their abusive father, Fyodor.

          Moral dilemmas:
Each brother grapples with complex moral questions, with Ivan representing a skeptical, rationalist viewpoint, Alyosha embodying faith, and Dmitri struggling with his passions.

          The murder:
The plot revolves around the murder of Fyodor, with suspicion falling primarily on Dmitri, leading to a dramatic trial.

          Philosophical depth:
The novel explores deep philosophical questions about free will, the meaning of life, and the role of suffering.

          Shorter.

          Blah blah blah:
          Not good, don't read it.
          Just what I thought.
If I have seen further, it is by standing on the heads of others.

I'm not reading some damned Godless commie's book. I'd rather put that time into reading the Holy Bible. Which is something you Catholics ought to try someday.

Dostoevsky sold more than 15 million books so I think he edges it.

Why can't people read about happiness and love? But it's nothing new; people have been under the yoke of sorcery for centuries! From the historical record:

Acts 8:9-11 There was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one: to whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God. And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.

I think you skipped a few juicy bits in the book, otherwise you would not recommend it.
(Skipping portions of a book that do not suit you may be a habit acquired while you are "reading" and skipping large portions of the Bible).

Dostoyevsky was no friend of the Catholics, and he expressed that feeling in this book by describing a fictitious Jesus' Second Coming at the height of the Spanish Inquisition. In the story, Jesus was doing exactly what He was doing the first time - teaching and healing people. The Inquisition captured Jesus, He was tortured and interrogated by an inquisitor. The inquisitor did recognize Jesus, but he sent Him to death anyway, as he said that people didn't need Him anymore - if allowed to preach, Jesus would have upset the status quo too much.

The Orthodox Christians are even more silly than Catholics with their never ending masses, and all that gold, but that one thing Dostoyevsky got right. Catholic Church has swayed so far away from Jesus' teachings, that if He did return, they really would try to kill Him.
God created fossils to test our faith.
