Are you questioning the custom of tithing? Because let me assure you, God is very keen on that:
Leviticus 27:30 And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD'S: it is holy unto the LORD.
...
32 And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD.
We are commanded to pay a tenth of our income as a tithe to the Church.

As for whether God promises His followers earthly wealth, well:
Deuteronomy 28:1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.
3 Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.
4 Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
5 Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store.
6 Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.

I think the references to blessings on our crops, our livestock, our baskets and our store make it pretty clear that God is promising us material goods, not just spiritual rewards. Praise!

My claim to be a Christian seems to be ignored in favor of calling me all kinds of names, and while I admit that I have insulted people here, most of those insults were out of frustration that I could not get a legitimate debate. I apologize for the name-calling, though; that was rude and immature of me.
