A clay tablet that has baffled scientists for more than a century has been identified as a witness's account of an asteroid that destroyed the Biblical cities of Sodom and Gomorrah 5,000 years ago.

Researchers believe that the tablet's symbols give a detailed account of how a mile-long asteroid hit the region, causing thousands of deaths and devastating more than one million sq km (386,000 sq miles).

The impact, equivalent to more than 1,000 tons of TNT exploding, would have created one of the world's biggest-ever landslides.

The Old Testament story describes how God destroyed the 'wicked sinners' of Sodom with fire and brimstone but allowed Lot, the city's one good man, to flee with his family.

The theory is the work of two rocket scientists - Alan Bond and Mark Hempsell - who have spent the past eight years piecing together the archaeological puzzle...

Emphasis is mine. Can somebody please tell me what rocket scientists know about archeology? Shouldn't a biblical scholar be undertaking -and thus, debunking- this line of inquiry?

Quite frankly, the whole question is moot, because my Heavenly Father already told me what happened to Sodom:

Jude 1:7

Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

God did rain down fire and brimstone on Sodom, it is well known that scientists like to call those asteroids to hide the connection with the Lord. What the scientists can't explain though is why Sodom and Gomorrah got targeted, why those cities full of homosexuals and not some other city? It goes to show that the destruction was directed by our loving Father in Heaven, just like He directed the annihilation of Japan, Sumatra, Haiti, etc.

I remain a skeptic.
1. This statement: 'You need to know the context before you can translate it,' said Mr Hempsell, of Bristol University. This sounds suspiciously as if these damn fools have decided what they want the translation to say and then interpreted it to fit their conclusions. An absolutely iniquitous way to behave.

2. There is no mention of God on the tablet, it cannot be an accurate translation. We know God was involved because the Bible says so.

So we have Godless atheists using some ancient demonist as their source. What a surprise that they would arrive at God-denying conclusions!

First the astro-physicists want to tell us their new model of creation requires no creator, and now these geniuses have given us a model of destruction requiring no destroyer!

God obviously did it! How else could He have sent two angels to rescue the one righteous man.

Here is some commentary I wrote about Sodom and Gomorrah smiting in the Bible.

We all know this story very well, so I'm not going to tarry on it too long. They are sitting down for a feast and suddenly all the men from the city surround them. They want some forced sex with angels. Kinky.

Lot offers up his virgin daughters instead. These people are such raging fairies that they pass up some virgins and are planning to break down the door with Lot in front of it to get to their angel quarry.

The angels snatch Lot back in to the house and strike all the men blind. It seems like if they could strike them all blind, they could strike them all dead, but our LORD is truly the artist. He struck them blind before raining fire down. Can you imagine how satisfactory it would be to strike your enemies blind and then slowly pick them off one by one with fire and brimstone within a walled city?

It would be the human equivalent of burning ants with a magnifying glass.

Lot attempts to gather his sons-in-law, but they mock him.

Still in Genesis 19 14And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.

I thought his daughters were virgins. Maybe it was other daughters.

It's time to go. Your Sunday school teacher might have made is sound like they made a run for it once the angels blinded the men of the city, but that's not the case. Those whom were blinded have had all night to run around screaming in darkness. Lot doesn't leave until the next morning.

15And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.
17And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.

The plan is to go to a small city called Zoar.

20Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live.
22Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do anything till thou be come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.
23The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar.

Now that Lot has finally entered the city of Zoar, God can begin His work.

24Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;

As we all know Lot's wife looked back and was made a pillar of salt, which must have been the original will of the LORD.

Thank you Pastor William Nathaniel Sampson, for that most illuminating dissertation!

I wonder, does this mean that the angels were flesh-and-blood creatures? One would think they would have to be, otherwise they would not be capable of being raped by homos.

Or were they simply pretending to be vulnerable to buggery in order to test Lot's willingness to sacrifice his daughters?
