    EMERGENCY! Is Biblegateway.com under hacker attack!?

    I'm trying to get on there right now, but every time I try to access the site, it appears to redirect to a Twitter page! Yet it still has the Biblegateway address in the URL bar.

    Is anybody else experiencing this?

    Have they been hacked?

      Just so you won't think I'm imagining things, I've taken screen shots to document this bizarre occurrence:






      Please don't focus too much on the fact that I'm using a gay Macintosh; what's important right now is dealing with this hacker assault on Christendom. Can somebody please alert Landover Security?

          I'm not sure whether the hackers have gotten into the Biblegateway database and replaced Biblegateway with a duplicate of the Twitter home page, or if they're somehow redirecting to Twitter while spoofing the address bar so it still reads "Biblegateway.com."

          A very odd attack, if that's what it is.

              And now, just a few minutes later, the site appears to be back to normal. I notice they do have a "follow us on Twitter" button. Could this have something to do with it? Perhaps some odd glitch causing the site to think the button had been pressed?

                      Next time biblegateway.com fails, try bible.com. It defaults to KJV.
                      Bible boring? Nonsense!

                          Hoping to learn more about this incident, I typed "Biblegateway.com hacked" into Google and found myself reading the following article from 2009:

                          Hacker Attacks BibleGateway.com, Switches KJV and Amplified Bibles

                          Thinking I'd stumbled across a fine source of Christian news, I clicked around and checked out some of the other articles on the site. It soon dawned on me that what I was looking at was some kind of joke Web site where they -get this- pretend to be running a Christian Web site, apparently with the goal of making fun of Christianity.

                          You can probably imagine how distressed I was to realize that an information source I'd turned to in a moment of crisis was not only a joke, but a cruel attack on Christians everywhere. Why would somebody put so much time and effort into making a fake Christian Web site? Just thinking about it makes my heart hurt.
