It's some sort of pagan Sun worship thing. They get obsessed with the Sun and think lighting fires will scare it back up higher in the sky or something instead of just accepting God put it in the sky to show the seasons in the first place. Crazy whacko stuff that you couldn't make up and think it was true unless you were in some way deranged or high on drugs.

I didn't know that it was also a pagan celebration. As far as I know, it's just a day in the middle of winter, the shortest day in the year (by day, I mean, the time when the sun is up). The summer solstice is in the middle of summer, when the sun is out for the longest time and the day is the longest in the year.

God in His wisdom varies the path of the Sun as it does it's daily travel across the firmament. I believe the solstice is the day when it takes an equal amount of time in the sky as it does going back to it's start position,

I researched the so-called "Solstice" in college, before going to seminary.

The celebration is not 'pagan' in origin at all; rather, it is a pair of Satanic high holidays.

Originally called "Soul-Stitch", this shortest day of the year is a celebration of darkness and evil when Satanists dedicate their children born in the preceding year to their Dark Lord and Master -- "stitching their souls" to Satan.

In ancient times, the demon-worshipers would demand tribute of their neighboring tribes, in exchange for restraining demonic forces ready to destroy the innocent. They took this tribute in the form of babies -- the firstborn of every household. The babies were collected on the summer solstice -- making the longest day of the year into the longest day of mourning for those who loved God! This also was an opportunity to strike back against goodness and light; they believed their efforts worked, because the days then got shorter and shorter.

On the winter solstice, they sacrificed one stolen baby for each child of their own which they wished to dedicate to Satan. If there were 'extra' firstborns, then those would also be dedicated to Satan and adopted by the heathens. When they grew to adulthood, they would take and murder their own relatives as sacrifices to Satan!

So beware if a God-mocker wishes you a 'Happy Solstice'. No doubt he's eyeing your baby as a sacrifice!
