Are you saing that John 3:16-18 and all other parts of scripture I quoted are not to be followed then?

You are wrong and blind. That's the whole point, we follow the whole Bible. Show me where we have been biblically inaccurate. It is you who ignore it, as we can clearly see. For some reason you also are very angry for as Christians who actually follow the whole Bible.

Eydie Gormé Dies, Singing Legend Was 84

Concert and recording superstar Eydie Gormé, who – performing everything from ballads to bossa nova with singing partner and husband Steve Lawrence – made an indelible impression on American audiences during the swingin' '60s, died Saturday afternoon in Las Vegas, her spokesman, Howard Bragman, tells PEOPLE. She was 84.

"Legendary singer and performer Eydie Gorme passed away peacefully today at Sunrise Hospital following a brief illness," Bragman said in a statement. "She was surrounded by her husband, son and other loved ones at the time of her death."

In his own statement, Steve Lawrence said: "Eydie has been my partner on stage and in life for more than 55 years. I fell in love with her the moment I saw her and even more the first time I heard her sing."

He added: "While my personal loss is unimaginable, the world has lost one of the greatest pop vocalists of all time."

A favorite on The Ed Sullivan Show, in showrooms in the Catskills and in Las Vegas – where they married on Dec. 29, 1957, and later took up permanent residence – as well as on stages, including Carnegie Hall, Steve and Eydie, as they were known, sang popular hits of the day, including Broadway standards, and exchanged pointed personal banter – all of which their audiences ate up.

A Gift for Languages and for Singing
Born in the Bronx to a tailor originally from Sicily and a mother from Turkey, Gormé was a Sephardic Jew whose real name was Edith Garmezano. Spanish was spoken in the home, while at William Howard Taft High School she became the Taft Swing Band's lead female vocalist.

Her gift for languages helped land her a job as a translator at the United Nations shortly after high-school graduation, and her mellifluous voice soon got her an audition with Tex Beneke's Big Band. A year's tour followed, as did a contract with Coral Records.

She met Lawrence, a cantor's son (his original surname was Leibowitz), in September 1953 on Steve Allen's Tonight show. Booked for two weeks as the program's vocalist, she ended up staying five years. Lawrence was also a regular on the show, and the two were often paired in musical numbers and comic sketches.

Once married, in 1958 they had their own summer TV show, which was canceled after the one season because Lawrence was drafted into the Army. Gormé then performed in nightclubs around Washington, D.C., where he was stationed, and after his discharge in 1960, the "Steve and Eydie" act was born, as was their legend.

So accustomed were the two to appearing together, that when Lawrence did a show by himself in 2009 – Gormé had retired and took up blogging on her and her husband's website – he told Newsday that it was strange. "It's also about the first time in 50 years I'll be able to finish a sentence without being interrupted."

Not that they didn't have successes on their own. In 1962, Lawrence had his great hit, "Go Away Little Girl." A year later, Gormé scored on the Billboard charts with "Blame It on the Bossa Nova." The bouncy number made her an international star, and she became a Latin crossover artist when she began singing in Spanish the following year.

Let's hope God sees fit to take her limp-wristed husband to hell soon. I'm sure that satan has plans for these "show-biz legends."

Before I start this I want to clarify that I AM A CHRISTIAN I LOVE GOD AND THERE IS NOTHING THAT I WOULD RATHER DO THAN SPEND ETERNITY WITH HIM, but this site, this forum, this church, saddens me. I am not angry, I do not hate you, I am not here to argue, lie, I am not here to "flame" or "troll" you or defend any type of other religion or belief, I am here for one sole purpose: that is to deliver a message and if you have a single shred of patience, decency, or maturity you'll listen.
What you say about people's races is dead wrong. Not a single race is above another, not blacks, not whites, not native Americans, none are above another. God created EVERYONE, He loves all of His creations, much more than you or I could ever understand, and for any man, or woman to say that a certain race is better than the other is corrupt. Saying that God doesn't love a something goes completely against what the Bible is, His message of love and a guideline to how we can reach Him.
I read about the things you "pioneered" that are "mainstream" today, some seemed to be unnecessary to me, but it's not for me to say, though there was one that broke my heart more than any other: torturing. Torturing of anyone isn't humane no matter what the reason may be. That is why Hell is a place of horrors unlike anything anyone knows on earth. Why should anyone think it's "okay" to even suggest something as terrible. Don't misunderstand me, I do believe that every wrong doing should have a consequence, and letting someone who wronged another get away with it is even worse than committing the crime.
Yet another thing shattered me, the fact that you called people "unsaved trash." This is what turns people away from God, it's what makes people say that Christians are insane, and that we are close minded, that is why people's souls will be lost forever. As much as it hurts me to hear someone I call brother, meaning not in relationship but in Christ, I can't be angry with any of you. Your intentions are pure, and that is all that keeps me from anger, but I digress. Calling someone unsaved trash makes you no better than them. You sound prideful, and that in itself is wrong. Jesus died so everyone could be worth something again, no matter what their past was, for example the man on the cross next to Him was forgiven, only because he believed.
Everything else combined couldn't have been more hurtful than the fact that you said that God sees some races as dogs, and that he doesn't answer their prayers. How. Dare. You. We aren't the ones to say who does and doesn't get their prayers answered, we don't have the authority to deem someone or something as unworthy of God. He loves everyone, He loves hearing everyone's prayers, and He alone is able to answer them or decide not to answer them.
If your still reading this, and you still care, then at least consider what I've said. Consider changing, no matter what the past of your church, no matter what tradition has. Jesus changed tradition, he changed it from cold, bitter and hypocritical to loving and forgiving. "Listen to him, how arrogant, how foolish!", right? Maybe I am, maybe I'm just an upstart, or maybe I'm someone who actually cares, maybe I'm someone who was daring enough to jump into a lions den, fully aware that I run the risk of being ridiculed for what I say with only one thought in my mind: Save one person.
To draw everything to a close. The thoughts and attitudes of the teachers sound like a certain group of people in Jesus' time on earth. This reminds me of those who plotted against Jesus. Ban me from these forums if it will make you feel better, but it won't change anything important. What I hope it will change is you. No matter what the sin, everyone is able to reach Jesus Christ, all they need to do is believe.

Linda Ronstadt Discloses Her Battle With Parkinson’s Disease

Legendary singer Linda Ronstadt, 67, told AARP today that she “can’t sing a note” because she suffers from Parkinson’s disease. Diagnosed eight months ago, Ronstadt began to show symptoms as long as eight years ago. But she ascribed her inability to sing to a tick bite (“my health has never recovered since then”), and believed the shaking in her hands resulted from shoulder surgery.

In a wide-ranging interview with AARP’s music writer Alanna Nash to be published on aarp.org next week, Ronstadt revealed how she discovered that “there was something wrong” with her voice.

“I couldn’t sing,” she told Nash, “and I couldn’t figure out why. I knew it was mechanical. I knew it had to do with the muscles, but I thought it might have also had something to do with the tick disease that I had. And it didn’t occur to me to go to a neurologist. I think I’ve had it for seven or eight years already, because of the symptoms that I’ve had. Then I had a shoulder operation, so I thought that’s why my hands were trembling.

“Parkinson’s is very hard to diagnose, so when I finally went to a neurologist and he said, ‘Oh, you have Parkinson’s disease,’ I was completely shocked. I wouldn’t have suspected that in a million, billion years.

“No one can sing with Parkinson’s disease,” Ronstadt said. “No matter how hard you try.”

Ronstadt walks with the aid of poles when on uneven ground, and uses a wheelchair when she travels.

Although Ronstadt’s new memoir, Simple Dreams, will appear on September 17, it does not discuss her diagnosis, or the loss of her voice.

Ronstadt, who dated high profile men such as California Gov. Jerry Brown and George Lucas, helped shape the folk-rock music scene of the late 1960s and early 1970s. She started as lead singer of the Stone Poneys, then went on to achieve fame as a solo performer. She has earned 11 Grammy Awards, two Academy of Country Music awards, and an Emmy.
