Christianity Today is a somewhat fluffy-bunny Christian website but it carries the best report of the fall of Pastor Bob Coy:
Popular Pastor Resigns after 'Moral Failure,' But Followers Still Want His Sermons
Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale explains why it took down Bob Coy's teachings on marriage. http://www.christianitytoday.com/gle...ry-chapel.html
One interesting trend among the widespread reactions: Followers want his past teachings put back online.
Coy, senior pastor at 18,500-member Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale since he founded the Florida megachurch in 1985, said the failing disqualified him from "continuing his leadership role at the church," according to a church statement released Sunday (full text below). Religion News Service broke the story, also noted by Charisma and CNN.
Coy, who authored the popular series Building a Godly Marriage along with pastoring one of the fastest growing churches in America, also reached audiences through his Active Word Radio Podcast, which ranks No. 12 on the iTunes chart for Christian podcasts, between offerings from Joel Osteen and T. D. Jakes.

The Active Word media ministry has been suspended, according to the church. Coy's past sermon series on marriage was taken offline and unavailable Monday, as were other media pages at the church's website.
Now having read that, it doesn't take a personal revelation from the Archangel Gabriel to realize that Pastor Bob (no relation to our own pastor "Bob4God") has been tithing his body outside of the holy bonds of matrimony. I can only hope that it was with a woman.
There has been some criticism from the congregation from some judgemental false Christians:
but this has been quickly defended with solid argument
(I must say that I would have mentioned that David also was bedding Uzzah's wife - I think that would have made it clearer)
The Church itself is hardly "Mega". We at Landover would consider it not much more than a chapel.
I have spoken with other pastors here, and they are of one voice: The idea that the Patriarchs of Old, who were blessed by God, had several wives and Christ's teachings that marriage is "One man and one woman and between Bob and Jean, not between Bob and Steve" seems to present a paradox that can only be resolved by considering the differences between the ordinarily spiritual and the highly spiritual.
Of course, Pastor Coy has a background of drugs, sex gambling and Rock and Roll but his abilities to attract so many are a sure sign that "There is more joy in heaven when one sinner repents, etc." and although we can question the "repent" part, we cannot forget that God must have been pleased at the time.
One aspect that worried me was that the Pastor's sermons have been taken down: are they any less the Word of God now? The congregation was insprired then, are they not inspired now?
I am reminded of 1 Kings 22:19-24 And he said, Hear thou therefore the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left.
And the LORD said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramothgilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner. And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will persuade him.
And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade [him], and prevail also: go forth, and do so. Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee.
Whether or not Pastor Bob was a lying hypocrite, are not those sermons a sign of the Lord's Work?
As more is revealed, things will become clearer but I feel there is much still to be discussed as we remember "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."
