Celine, a student of journalism at the University of Paris, declines an invitation to have dinner and drinks with some friends. As she explains with a somewhat mischievous smile, tonight she has a "rendezvous with Jesus." Every Wednesday after her classes, she goes to a little church near the Seine to meet with other members of a charismatic prayer group. As night falls on the city, those who pass by Celine's church seem quite surprised to hear the buoyant melodies, the beat of tom-toms, and clapping, as music rises from their neighborhood church. About 50 young people sing psalms, share spontaneous prayers, or read from random Scripture passages. Even their physical posture is a bit unusual — palms raised toward the sky, arms constantly waving. One might think a band of evangelical Christians had somehow taken over the parish hall. Or is it just a little party of overzealous eccentrics?

In fact, it's neither. Small groups like this are part of the charismatic renewal that is today one of the strongest forces for the Catholic Church in France

First of all, the Catholic Church in France is waaaay behind the curve. The "Charismatic Catholic" Trend swept through America in the late 1970s. A few discerning participants realized that Christ, not Catholicism, was the point and left the Catholic Church behind to join real Christian churches.

Trump is putting tariffs on anyone and everyone he dislikes. Most recently it is on countries doing business with Iran.

Today I sent a suggestion to him. It is to put a tariff on the Catholic Church and on all its members. A tariff fee on every Catholic and Catholic Church will make the point he is serious about being a Baptist.

It has taken a while, but President Trump has cleaned up Minneapolis. It is now safe to reenter that city which was so dangerous. You will recall not long ago it was crawling with immigrants, Somalis and liberal politicians. Satan, no doubt, is pleased that regulated marihuana products enable "the high" to reach more people, thereby introducing them to demon possession. Whether the weed itself is demonic may be a moot point¹ but the ensuing frenzy (often suppressed as an internal state) is the work of devils. Perhaps it's better that their antics are marshalled via regulation. The President remarked:

Foreigners pretending to commune with God may or may not be "on" the wacky baccy. They think it's the sun. But really it's blackest night. Under such conditions anything can be imagined – but nothing is real. Hallucinating catholics, sitting in silence or interminably singing, sound equally off-putting to me. Discernment enables me to consider that, yes, maybe a regulated environment is better after all, where the frenzy can go ahead but (since they're going to Hell anyway) revenues may be generated to offset the downside of getting high (can you even imagine a "priest" on the stuff?) managed responsibly by The President himself.

It was uplifting to learn about the President's remarks at the 2026 National Prayer Breakfast. He said it is not possible to be a Democrat and a Christian. How true it is. Democrats are sin. Christians are against sin. Republicans are against sin. Thank you Jesus for our wonderful President.
