Since the Friday the 13th franchise has received the Old Man Hatchet stamp of Approval, I decided to look into some of my old favorites before married life. Back when I was single, I used to love the Biblical based Horror movies. So I wanted to cover a few here. Please feel free to add comments, or other movies. I am looking at this from a scriptural viewpoint.
1. The Omen (1976)

I'm not sure on this one. Although it does show the Antichrist growing up in a political environment and being groomed for the highest political office in the world (POTUS). There are a few scriptural issues with it. According to Revelation 13:17-18 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that the Antichrist will have a 666 birthmark. It was also pointed out to me if you look at 666 in Roman numerals you get DCLXVI Which is ever Roman numeral under 1000. Anyway, I'll leave that one for wiser minds to sort out.
Damien is born of a Jackal, again, not scriptural. He is adopted by Robert Thorn who has found out that his child, who was born on the same night (June 6, 1966) has died. Robert keeps this secret from his wife because they have had trouble conceiving and he doesn't want to crush her. All Damiens life he is protected by Satans minions. I guess that is one of the reasons I like this movie so much, it is the first time I ever saw a Rottweiler. and instead of recoiling in horror at the "Devil dog" my first response was "what a beautiful loyal creature".
I would not recommend this movie for anyone who does not have a firm grasp on their scripture. It is close but not 100% accurate. There is also a priest (why do all horror movies have Catholic priests in them, why does nobody ever run for a True Christian™ Pastor. Overall though, it does show how the Beast could easily enter society, especially if he is born to a political family with international ties.
