  • Best car garage in Freehold Iowa?

Just a random question. I have no knowledge of cars and I am sure the local mechanic of Freehold is a most glorious and honest man. In my town, as a young teenager he always manages to find issues with my car. I wouldn’t know as I am a female. It’s a man’s job! My mechanic always makes sure to refill the blinker fluid and after every oil change and to replace the transmission ducts. It’s really expensive and it eats up my allowance, but it’s worth it.
My name is Maxine Levantine. I am 17 and follow the KJV Bible to a T. If you are wanting to hit on me you can turn away. THIS is reserved for Jesus and my future husband (whoever that may be).

Oh, dear Sister Maxine: I have the same problem when it comes to cars. I just don't understand enough about how they operate to know whether or not my local mechanic is being honest with me, although I do trust him. Once, when the car was not starting properly, I called the garage and the mechanic asked, "is it turning over?" I assured him the car was still on all four wheels. And like you, I noticed recently that my blinker light wasn't working properly. So, I called the garage and the mechanic told me to bring the car in. I did that, and when I explained the situation and told him I thought the car needed to have the fluid topped up, he gave me an odd look and, with a smirk on his face, he said, "you're down by about a quart". So I told him to top it up. I left the car, went to the library, returned and paid the $200 bill and I must say, he did a great job, and there was no dripping of fluid anywhere!

A blessed evening to you, dear Maxine.
    Sincerely, Isabella W.

Maxine, the city of Freehold is a private community and they only let in True Christians, as I understand it. Even I have never been there, though Freeholders who have stayed at my motel have told me of its Godly splendor. I doubt you would be allowed in. Shouldn't your father be helping you with this?

And what do you need a car for, exactly? Teenagers and cars inevitably leads to juvenile delinquency.
I was sinking deep in sin far from the peaceful shore,
      Very deeply stained within, sinking to rise no more;
But the Master of the Sea heard my despairing cry,
From the waters lifted me, now safe am I!

True, Brother Lukes. I am curious, nay, suspicious: why would an outsider even ask this question?

Tell me, have you considered selling up and setting up some sort of (relatively) low-cost hotel facility in Freehold? As the children are growing up, we find that the house is a tad too small to accommodate everyone comfortably, especially if my parents or my brothers are visiting at the same time. It would be convenient and a lot quieter to be able to "farm out" the under 10s, rather than just restrict them to the basement.

It’s just something I was curious about. I couldn’t find any information and thought about it randomly when my local mechanic refilled my blinker fluid for me.

What's a blinker fluid? Is that something on the foreign cars? I drive a Hummer and have never heard of such a thing.

If your blinkers aren't working you might want to check to see if your voltage absorber is burned out first. As with anything automotive, if you feel you might be getting ripped off you can check with YouTube and see if you can save yourself some money by doing it yourself.

As an aside, I recommend using the synthetic blinker fluid as it lasts longer.

There are other things you can do yourself, like changing the air in your tires - when winter comes along you want winter air in them rather than summer air (the humidity in summer air can freeze up your tires).

Changing your exhaust bearings can be tricky, but most people can manage putting a little snake oil on the serpentine belt bearings once or twice a year.

Why, thank you so much, dear Brother WilliamJenningsBryan! That little video tutorial was ever so interesting and helpful. Goodness me, I'm not the slightest bit "mechanical", though, so it's a bit beyond me. I don't think I even own a hammer or screwdriver, so I'm afraid that I'll still be taking my car to the auto-mechanic to have him service it. I'll be sure to mention your tips to him, just so he doesn't overlook one of those important steps, particularly that part about not getting the snake oil on the light bulb. And I was fascinated with that bit about changing the air in the tires, too. I had no idea that winter or summer air made a difference. And now, thanks to you, I now know that I shan't be worrying about my tires bursting due to frozen moisture content. I must remember to mention this to the ladies at Auntie Flo's Prayer Shack, for those who might be without husbands or fathers. Thank you once again, dear Brother, and please feel free to drop by to enjoy some refreshing Darjeeling and freshly-baked scones.
A blessed day to you, Dear Brother WilliamJenningsBryan,
                Sincerely, Isabella W.

My delicate hands and muscles can’t even lift a wrench. I’ll continue trusting my local mechanic since he can always find something wrong with my car.

Oh, dear Sister Maxine, I know, exactly, what you mean. So many women, especially younger women and girls such as yourself, have moments of weakness, whether it be physical or spiritual. Might I suggest something that will strengthen you and give you fortitude?

Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."

This valuable bit of Scripture, along with the helpful hints in this video about kneading bread dough, will help to strengthen your arms and make you mighty in battle against the forces of darkness. And are you sure you should even be lifting a wrench in the first place? I mean, I wouldn't want your beloved Pa to rebuke you for doing the work of the menfolk.

A blessed day to you, dear Sister Maxine,

I asked my husband if he had changed the blinker fluid in our van lately and he slapped me across the face. He said it wasn't any concern of mine what happened to the van. He also made a few comments about me being a stupid woman. I have learned my lesson - always leave the vehicle care to the husband!

I asked my Pa about how the local mechanic always changes my blinker fluid today. He was probably jealous that I seemed outside help. After I told him, he shook his head in silence and walked away to his study.

Oh, I'm so terribly sorry to learn of this, dear Sister Dana. It must have been awfully humiliating for you, being slapped and treated like that. One wonders if you had been a couple of minutes late with having the evening supper ready at the usual time? Regardless, it can be a delicate situation, trying to steer away from areas that pertain to the menfolk. Speaking of menfolk, I suppose we should be careful here, as one would not be surprised to learn that it's possible that the menfolk "Infraction Notice Officers" are lurking and eager to pounce.

Just a little side note about automobile mechanics in Landover Baptist Church. We have had some goods ones over the years.

But, we've had little problems with them. People who work on cars often get stubborn grease under their fingernails. When the collection plate was passed some noticed this imperfect grooming and mentioned it to Pastors.

I don't know what happened by I don't seem them in church anymore.
Isaiah 24:1-3 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty (2)...as the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. (3) The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken his word.
