Oh, isn't it nice to judge an entire subculture on stereotypes?? If you want to fight your "enemy" you have to know your "enemy" and frankly, I don't think any of those who oppose the Goth culture really knows what it's all about. Being Goth isn't about Satan or any other stereotypes, being Goth is an inner feeling and has nothing to do with religion, you can be a Christian Goth too just as well you could be a Satanic Goth. I strongly advice to those who oppose Goths that they should go to a Gothic Party and meet some of these people, they are not as bad as you might think.

I've been a Goth for more than 15 years and I know a lot of others who are Goth too, most are fine people but just like you have in any society you have those who are different and chose a different path. Sure, there are Satanists amongst Goths too just as there are in any society. Why all this hate against a subculture like Goth?? These people aren't any different than any other people, sure they dress differently and they look quite differently but under all that latex, stockings, leather and lace they are still people and that's what those who oppose Goth should understand first.

And about the stereotypes
1-Frequently wears black clothing.
That's bad why??

2-Wears band and/or rock t-shirts.
Same as above

3-Wears excessive black eye makeup, lipstick or nailpolish.
Done good it can be beautiful, so why shouldn't anyone do this??

4-Wears any odd, silver jewelry or symbols. Some of these include:
reversed crosses, pentagrams, pentacles, ankhs or various other
Satanic worshipping symbols.
The origin of pentagrams, pentacles and ankhs are not even related to Satan, why claim them as such??

5-Shows an interest in piercings or tattoos.
Same as number 3

6-Listens to gothic or any other anti-social genres of music.
(Marilyn Manson claims to be the anti-Christ, and publicly speaks against
the Lord. Please discard any such albums IMMEDIATELY.)
Marilyn Manson in by no means Goth, he is a shock rocker and has little to do with Gothic, people only think he is Goth related because he only vaguely looks like some Goths.

7-Associates with other people that dress, act or speak
eccentrically.
Isn't that the nature of society, that you seek those who are like you??

8-Shows a declining interest in wholesome activities, such as: the
Bible, prayer, church or sports.
Many Goths do sport and some are even devoted Christians.

9-Shows an increasing interest in death, vampires, magic, the occult,
witchcraft or anything else that involves Satan.
Death is a natural thing so why shouldn't someone be interested in it?? As for the rest, sure people can be interested in that too, but it doesn't make them a Satanist as none of these things mentioned related to Satan.

10-Takes drugs.
I've been Goth for more than 15 years and I never took any drugs in my entire life, there isn't more drugs in the Goth scene than anywhere else.

11-Drinks alcohol.
Same as above

12-Is suicidal and/or depressed.
The rate of Suicide or depression is not greater than any other society. Only a small percentage is Suicidal/depressed, most Goths are happy and positive people.

13-Cuts, burns or partakes in any other method of self-mutilation.
(This is a Satanic ritual that uses pain to detract from the light of God
and His love. Please seek immediate attention for this at your local
mental health center.)
This has nothing to do with being a Goth or even Satan, self-mutilation appears in any layer of society and related to mental problems, not sociological problems.

14-Complains of boredom.
everybody get bored once in a while.

15-Sleeps too excessively or too little.
Nah, I sleep just like everybody else.

16-Is excessively awake during the night.
why should we, we have to go to school/work also.

17-Dislikes sunlight or any other form of light. (This pertains to
vampires promoting the idea that His light is of no use.)
Sure, that's why Goths like to have Gothic summer picnics in the sun.

18-Demands an unusual amount of privacy.
Every one like privacy

19-Spends large amounts of time alone.
This contradicts with number 21

20-Requests time alone and quietness. (This is so that your child
may speak to evil sprits through meditation.)
Sometimes people have to be alone to think about thing, why should this have anything to do with evil??

21-Insists on spending time with friends while unaccompanied by an
adult.

22-Disregards authority figures; teachers, priests, nuns and elders
are but a few examples of this.
Because many of these want to forcefeed there ideas on people. Everyone should be himself and not some drone.

23-Misbehaves at school.

25-Eats goth-related foods. Count Dracula cereal is an example of

There are indeed people who indulge into these practices but they are frowned upon it in the Goth scene. Drinking blood is in no way encouraged in the Goth scene as it can spread dangerous diseases like HIV. This shows how little those who oppose know about the Goth scene.

27-Watches cable television or any other corrupted media sources.
(Ask your local church for proper programs that your child may watch.)
28-Plays videos games that contains violence or are of a role-playing
nature.
I rarely watch television, and so do many others.

29-Uses the internet excessively and frequently makes time for the
computer.

There seems to be a confusion with Metal here, Gothic dancing indeed varies all around the world but shaking head violently is a thing I still have to encounter in Goth.

You guys should come over to a party and see the real deal.

32-Expresses an interest in sex.
Who doesn't at a young age??

33-Masturbates.

34-Is homosexual and/or bisexual.
The rate of Holebi's isn't any greater than anywhere else, the main difference might be that Goths are in general more open minded towards these things, they will not condemn the wish of individuals who are sexually different. It's also quite stupid to claim that all Goths are Homo/lesbian/Bi, I'm a pure hetero and will never even think about being homo/bi and so are many other goths.

35-Pursues dangerous cult religions. Such include: Satanism,
Scientology, Philosophy, Paganism, Wicca, Hinduism and Buddhism.
The choice of following a religion is pure individual and has nothing to do with the Goth subculture. There are many believes and religions in the Goth scene, even Christian.

36-Wears pins, stickers or anything else that contains these various
phrases: "I'm so gothic, I'm dead", "woe is me", "I'm a goth".
I never wear pins/stickers or anything else that say things like that.

37-Claims to be a goth.
And some claim to be Christian, so what.

It is impossible to have Christian goths and satanic goths; there can only be satanic goths.

There's only one thing I'd like to see at a goth party. It would fill me with joy to see the the boy goths thrown onto a fire as fagots so that all the girl goths can burn as the unholy witches that they are.
