Re: My son might be infected by autism virus
I can see you're angry. God's ways are not our ways (Isaiah 55:8) and that can certainly be confusing. In today's world, we seem to demand information from God like He's on trial or something. The fact is, a person must believe in Jesus to be access the only way out of His Perfect Justice (John 3:18). A person with autism simply isn't capable of believing in a story that happened so long ago, especially when that story is so miraculous. Autistics are bound by concrete thinking and the concept of Jesus dying for our sins, being resurrected, and then ascending into Heaven is impossible for the autistic to wrap his head around.
Why think about it, why would God need to sacrifice His Son for our sins? What exactly constitutes a sin anyway? Do mistakes count? What about acting out of ignorance? How can God demand a blood payment from a toddler who doesn't know what his mother expects and so cannot be "good" for her until he develops the reasoning and impulse control necessary? And how in the world could a body dead for three days avoid decomposition? How do we know Jesus was dead and not asleep? And if he ascended into Heaven 40 days later, could we calculate the position of the earth at that time and point our telescopes and find Heaven by looking straight up where He went?
Do you see, this makes no sense to the concrete mind! One must believe by faith! Why, without faith, the Gospel is no different than any other archaic, bronze aged mythology. With faith, however, it becomes the only means by which one can be Saved! Autism doesn't allow for this mystical understanding and so faith is simply impossible.
We may not understand it now, but with faith, we know we can trust the LORD:
Praise Jesus!

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
