  • Re: Overwatch: Overdue For A Ban! (Or is it?)

Hello, my good sir! I must say, you are quite mistaken about this game. In the year 20XX, Evil Robots (Also known as omnics) tried to take over the world. A group, called OVERWATCH, formed together to stop the fight and end the war. They succeeded, but the three main leaders were presumably dead. After this, the public had some assumptions that Overwatch was evil (Which was untrue) And it eventually led to the disbanding of Overwatch. 20 years after the disbanding, an extremely smart Gorilla, Winston, in the time of new global crisis, recalls the team to stop Talon. Talon, a terrorist group, had been hunting down former members of Overwatch. Reaper (Creeper) and Widowmaker (Windowmaker) are part of this terrorist group. As it gets worse, Commander Morrison, leader of the Overwatch group, comes back to life presumably, by the name of Soldier 76. Another, Ana, comes back, as, well, Ana. The last member... Gabriel Reyes, comes back as Reaper. Now that Overwatch is reformed, the fight against Talon starts. May I say, the game is not at all canonical (Correct, or real) to Overwatch's actual story. I am sorry if I wasted a bit of time, having someone read this, but I felt it was needed, seeing as you were distraught about Overwatch.

Might I say, I tried the game on my son's computer, and it was very enjoyable. If you got the true meaning of the game, you would understand. And you would enjoy it, too!

I don't believe you. No father would ever call another man, "My good sir." In fact, I believe you probably tipped your imaginary fedora the moment after you typed that greeting. I think instead you believe you can reason the OP into changing his mind if you're polite. Well it won't work, dear. More clever and witty and mannerly people have tried before you to no avail. What we haven't seen yet is a comprehensive, Biblical rebuttal to the OP's premise. I wonder if you'll be the first.

I haven't seen you try to make any proper attempts to get this game banned other than your unreasoned complaints on this thread.

What happened to your all powerful Trump who could get this game banned and so much more.

Over on the "Team Fortress 2" thread, I posted thoughts that came about from a serious conversation with a real Navy Seal. He mentioned several times that he anticipates a major war on the horizon. Each time he brought it up, he prefaced his prediction with, "I hate to say it. . ." because he's been in the thick of battle and doesn't wish the experience on anybody.

He suffers from PTSD and has shrapnel scars on the back of his neck indicating one hell of a close call. He doesn't believe that video games teach any of the skills that can prepare someone for the ever present stress and sudden bursts of deep fear that are part of real warfare. Games can't replicate the sweat and stink and terror of seeing bodies of friends and enemies blown into pieces at close range.

Images of the blood and sacrifice of others still haunt him.

For a moment there, on the other thread, I felt sorry for the young keyboard warriors who are going to be shocked, overwhelmed and mostly dead when they face real weapons wielded by real enemies.

Reading the above post, I felt a brief prayer passing through me. Oh, God, please let it be soon, and let it be this douchebag, I thought to myself.

I am honestly ashamed at my thoughts (for various reasons) but that's how annoying some of these gamer brats are. A small, uncharitable part of me wants some of the little buggers blasted to smithereens.

            May forgive me.

What you refer to as a "tangent", I call bearing witness to the sacrifice and service of a brave young man.

Are you really so arrogant as to dismiss what an actual combat veteran has to say on the subject of warfare--real or virtual--in such a glib, flippant manor?

As for your assertion that I "ignored" the remainder of your post--I assure you that I read it. There simply seemed to be little worthy of comment that has not been explained to us nearly 1000 times by other gamers each of whom--not unlike yourself--has chosen to ignore earlier posts that offered the same information.

You have not only ignored the countless tedious posts before yours, you have also ignored the point of this forum.

We are here to discuss the Bible and how it relates to the effort to live as a believer in this day and age.

You have chosen to ignore many provocative threads on slavery, interracial marriage, gay rights, capital punishment, rape and genocide. None of these subjects interest you, because you have your head up your rectum where you keep your heart and your values.

All that seems to matter to you is defending a plaything/pastime against aspersions. It's a game and they are imaginary characters. The world won't fall apart if no one paid any attention to them.

On the other hand, the world would be a very different place if no one paid any attention to the Bible, or if everyone paid attention to what it actually says.

Finally, the Navy Seal that I spoke to not only risked his life dealing with real enemies trying to kill him, he has essentially sacrificed his peace of mind. He lives with PTSD that has changed him forever. There is no game code or game lore or reset button that will take him back to who he was.

You have some incredible nerve taking offense with people who don't like your game enough to commit its pointless details to memory. Your precious game is not only a poor substitute for real friends and real experiences that could teach you about life. It is a pathetic attempt to mimic the adrenaline rush of facing death in battle without the reality of pain, blood, exhaustion, terror or grief.

You are a child if you think your games are anything worth defending.

                  I seriously doubt it.
They recently posted on their Twitter that they have nearly 30 million people playing this game.
Doesn't sound like a dying game to me.

                    Dear Dotty,

Let us look at some numbers to assess your claim.
                    • 30,000,000 sinners playing the "Overwatch"
                    • World population 7,501,730,000
                    • By using the methods of Creation Science (calculating percentages) we obtain a result, where 0.40% of the World's population are familiar with the "Overwatch". Not staggering.

What about the Bible? Let us see.
                    • Approximately 5.8 billion people can access the Holy Bible in their own language.
                    • World population 7,501,730,000
                    • We, again, can do some calculations revealing that 77% of the World's population are within the sphere of influence of the Bible.

77/0.4 = 192.5, the number that shows how much more influential and popular the Bible is compared to the silly game of "Overwatch". Jesus wins, as expected. It is no surprise that the numbers add up in this manner.

                    Matthew 18:22
Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.

Furthermore, if we look at the cipher 192.5, we can deconstruct it into 19:25 which points to some verses of the Bible. And this method will yield us even more fabulous results!

                    Matthew 19:25
When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?

                    The answer, also a 19:25

                    Job 19:25
For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:

What about those who are ignorant of Jesus and His commandments? Obviously, a 19:25 answers this timely question:

                    Genesis 19:25
And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.

No, He won't watch over the sinners, he's going to overthrow them just as He did with Sodom and Gomorrah (the previous verse, Genesis 19:24 tells us that). Now you understand that whatever you think or plan, Jesus is always well ahead of you!

                    Yours in Christ,

                    Elmer
2 Kings 18:25 - Am I now come up without the LORD against this place to destroy it? The LORD said to me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.

Will, I notice that you have been here for more than two months and while you have made a number of random comments, you have not yet presented us with a proper introduction as required by forum rules. I feel that you have flaunted the rules of this Godly forum too long and I, for one, would appreciate a proper introduction. Kindly repair to the Introduction Forum and tell us all about yourself. To continue on without an introduction is just rude.

Also, there is a thread about the curse of autism, as you are no doubt aware. That is the place to pose your question, after you make an introduction. We are not too keen on unsaved and unintroduced individuals who try to hijack a thread. This one is about the dangers of a particular video game.

And you mentioned Mercys Devil skin. That's to contradict her name and what she stands by for the people who like contradicting stuff. As her story goes, she means to follow the doctors oath of "Do No Harm" so that's just a cosmetic the devs added to contradict that.

Please know that not everything will be made with the bible of any kind in mind. And bashing the game like this will litterly get nowhere. Are there are literally hundreds of thousands if not a few million people who play and love this game. And will defend it. Also: it's not breaking any federal laws, so "the word of God" is nearly null and void in an official statement to get the game down. Sorry but that's a sheer fact.

All of them gamers are so smart, that they can actually say that the game is not satanic without reading the Bible. Amazing.
