Here is an article which provides what I think to be sufficient reasoning that we honestly don't have enough proof that Jesus exists

Precisely. Only those with an objective view on christianity realize how little sense it makes.

Have you ever heard of something called logic? It goes like this:
            1. IF I jump in front of this speeding train
            2. THEN it will hit me

It's what stops most people from jumping in front of trains. Perhaps you're an exception?

Did you notice a requirement when you registered to make an intro. post? Can you guess where a link to the introduction forum may be found? Go on, push the boat out. See if you can do it.

... Jesus would never have spoken such words. He is accepting of other races. Why else would women such as Mary and Ruth be honored with such respect?

Why don't you go away until you learn the difference between sex and race?

                Hiya Billy,
How can you believe in one and not the other? That makes absolutely no sense at all.

Now please go and pick up the Bible (KJV 1611), you'll probably find it under that table leg you cut too short, and actually read it.

                Maybe you will learn something.

That would happen if you just made stuff up like for example
                  1. Jesus is the moon
                  2. Elves are real
                  3. Satan is not
                  4. Hell is a super funky joint
                  5. Pure gold is opaque
                  6. The garden of Eden was located in Kabul
                  7. Volcanos do not exist
                  8. Pope Frank is an angel
                  9. The archangel Michael is what Gabriel got called when promoted
                  10. God is the planet Vulcan
                  11. When we die we become gas and music propagates through us
                  12. Except people who eat wolves: they become worms
                  13. There is no Heaven
                  14. This makes perfect sense because of vibes
                  15. Christianity v2.09.1

See? There's a Jesus and no Heaven and it all makes sense Q.E.D.

Of course such a made up belief system contradicts The Bible, as we know from The Bible, but the beauty of made up systems is total absence of reality, covered in article 16, but there's no article 16 because there's no reality to cover.

THE ABOVE DOCTRINE IS NOT WHAT I REALLY THINK

No sane person would! And so sane person would believe many of the views we've seen expressed throughout the thread. The Bible is the reason why very much through omission rather than commission. When people reject The Truth they do not believe nothing. They will believe anything! Evidence is jettisoned along with God's Word and all that's left is frippery. And the 16 articles of drivel I made up is nothing compared to what real maniacs come up with when they dis reality. And sure enough just like article 16 it's nowhere to be found.

If anyone does not believe The Bible, SAY SO. If you have another source, POST IT. Because if you seek to set others straight where they've gone astray and you make claims WITHOUT EVIDENCE, why should they accept anything you say?

They should not, and neither do I.

Read the Bible! He didn't kill Isaac. I'll quote Genesis 22:9-12
"When they arrived at the place where God had told him to go, Abraham built an altar and arranged the wood on it. Then he tied his son, Isaac, and laid him on the altar on top of the wood.10 And Abraham picked up the knife to kill his son as a sacrifice.11 At that moment the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!”
“Yes,” Abraham replied. “Here I am!”
12 “Don’t lay a hand on the boy!” the angel said. “Do not hurt him in any way, for now I know that you truly fear God. You have not withheld from me even your son, your only son.”"
God simply tested Abraham's faith by asking him to kill his own son, and because he didn't hesitate he was rewarded! Maybe you've read the Bible upside down?

Yes, even non-christians use it to tuck their kids in.
Yes, he was willing and I know that. The bible said he didn't hesitate when he was called to kill Isaac, but it never came to that. At the final moment before Isaac was stabbed, God stopped Abraham and blessed him for his willingness and faith. If Isaac was killed, the Isrealites, Mary, Joseph and Jesus would never exist because they were from Isaac's line of descendants. None of what took place in the bible that you can quote so well would've ever took place at all and no one would've written the bible.

So think twice before tucking your kids in with the "Abraham killed Isaac" story, maybe they'll sleep better.

Oh, I've read the Bible, and not upside down. I just think that it's interesting to consider the situation from Issac's point of view. I admit, I once woke up from a nap to find my brother holding a small, rusty knife at my neck. But I've never been tied to a cord of wood knowing that the thing was meant to be set on fire and looked up to see my (deeply religious) dad holding a really long blade that I probably saw before being used to kill animals.

All the same, I think that it's great that you know the story. Say, do you have kids?
His left hand should be under my head, and his right hand should embrace me.

Wait, What? Are you suggesting that upon hearing the story of Abraham's devotion to the Lord thy God at bedtime, Christian children will spend too much time wondering which other person God would miraculously have started His Son's lineage through if Isaac weren't in the picture, and would therefore have to stay up and read the genealogies and miss sleep because they'd find themselves on the never ending road down "what if" thinking"? True Christian™ parents don't encourage "what if" thinking, dear. There is only what is, and what isn't. Imagination is a dangerous thing and we find it tends to encourage rational thinking, which God HATES.

                                Dear Sinner,

The story of Abraham and Isaac is about obedience (Ecclesiastes 12:13 is a good summary of that concept). The willingness to kill is the point. You must be prepared to do whatever God demands, and only by your submitting totally, may He grant you pardon. The actual pardon is called Heaven. The magnificent storyline from Isaac goes all the way into the New Testament where it re-appears as the guide to Salvation. First, Paul elaborates on it.

                                Romans 4:2
For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.

Then, James takes up the torch and gives us further instructions.

                                James 2:21
Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?

Now it is all clear. The story tells us how we can attain Redemption, how we can spend the Eternity with Jesus.

You have a long way to go.

                                Yours in Christ,
