Thank you for taking an interest and helping me to learn about your game. I wonder if it may not be such a threat as I'd first thought? While I'm thinking about that, perhaps you missed my earlier post:

Quite a lot in there. Pointless responding to this poster of course who never replies to anything and never offers evidence, probably due to not knowing what evidence is. For the benefit of others however I'm happy to post Scripture addressing a couple of points.

1. "Thousand year old book" the Bible is not 1,000 years old.
2. "Changed heavily over the past thousand years" so in this case we'd look for original text which is about 1,000 years old. I have done that, not wishing to appear ignorant, and included a 2,000 year old example as well. These are presented in English translation together with a currently available on-line English text and one in Hebrew for comparison.



EVIDENCE - You have claimed that the text changed heavily over the past thousand years, meaning that a lot can change.
OK, I'm not making that claim.
I've provided several examples for you.
Show me the changes.

I'm sure that just as you'd like to know if something's wrong with your game you'll see that I'd like to know if there's something wrong with my religion.

You people cannot see the whole picture. Revision: you can, but you choose not to. Instead of reading this filth for advise, try the experts who have an unbiased viewpoint. (The bias here is that you want this game to be satanist)

Also, I am noticing that you seem to have the opinion that Muslims, Jews and gays are trash. Instead of trying to guide them to the righteous way of living, you choose to shun them. Our Lord says: "The healthy do not need a doctor, but the sick do." Muslims, Jews, and gays are sick and in need of a doctor. True Christians obey Christ and go to help them, but you just call them names, tell each other and your children how bad they are, and to stay away from them, disobeying the direct commands of the Lord, which says to spread his Word.

Show us, using verses from the Bible, how we are disobeying direct commands of the Lord. There isn't a thread on this forum where we don't preach the need to obey Christ by obeying the totality of God's Word.

To the mothers who read this: do not take advice from this forum. It is a very biased view posted by frauds. Either play the game yourself, or watch others do it, and develop your own opinion. Thank you in advance to those that consider this. If you reject this even before you consider it, I have no respect for you.

First of all, it's "they're" not "their" and if you spent any amount of time on this website, you would see that we love to spout, declare and proclaim Bible verses! It is the ground of our being that we are here to share God's Word with the world. People who join us in doing so have not "fallen to our level" they have lifted themselves up as beacons of the Truth™.


Finally, allow me to note that I have included actual Bible verses in my response, whereas your post contains one, non-contextual paraphrase in which you attempt to decry us as "not as holy as thou". (See, I can paraphrase, too.) If you mean to best us in the battle to open hearts and minds to True Christianity™, you are going to have to do much better than that.


I'm actually one of the least skilled and least learned Bible scholars here. . . So, have fun.

Now, don't get me wrong here, I completely understand the offense taken from the game's satanic references, such as the Devil & Imp character costumes for Mercy, however, I can't help but feel as if some people are reading into Overwatch as if it were the Holy Bible, and are looking for metaphors and symbols where there are none. I've played the game for quite a while, and am a Christian myself, but I've never felt that the game has tried to lead me to sin. It's just mindless, stupid violence, not unlike games like Call of Duty, League of Legends, and Halo.

I honestly don't understand where people are drawing the parallel between these seemingly unrelated things, I mean, Blizzard itself is a company with people from numerous ethnic backgrounds and religions, many of which are Christian, and I'd highly doubt that any God-fearing man or woman working on this game would actively try and sabotage the minds of our youths like I hear many people claiming. Quite the contrary, I'd say that it seems many of them just wanted to create a fun game, and it's quite clear they've accomplished this due to its rising popularity.

I cannot think of a single evil deed that was caused by someone being exposed to Overwatch, let alone someone having their faith shaken by the game. I honestly would argue that someone who sees the game and questions if the intent of it was to sway Christians to Satan, is just someone over-analyzing the situation, as I've asked the people I play with and not once have they felt that their religious views have been challenged or led astray.

In addition to the perils described in the Opening Post, you yourself express here one of the most pivotal points that really needs to be assessed. I've heard the argument before that all distractions from god, such as video gaming, are useless and should be abandoned, but I can't help but point to the psalmist who wrote 127, particularly verse 2.


"In vain you rise early
and stay up late,
toiling for food to eat—
for he grants sleep to those he loves."

I wont take this out of context, because Verse 1 does explicitly say that without God there is no point to our actions, but I am a man who frequently keeps the word of God, and praises him, and I can't say that my works have been fruitless.


I've worked my job for many years, and I've earned my bread and my respite through my worldly action, and God has given me my time to pursue rest of the body and mind, and I find this rest in literal sleep, but also in my idle distractions, and if God hadn't willed for me to enjoy the luxuries I have, he wouldn't have allowed me to get them in the first place, and I'd still be toiling for my basic needs.

The entire point of that Psalm is that anything done for any reason other than the glorification of God (including having children), is vanity, and therefore pointless for the person of faith.
