    Re: Demon possession in music

Just because it's not about God or praising God doesn't mean it's bad or evil.

Any thing, which is not about God or praising God, is bad and evil. God wants us to pray without ceasing:

      1 Thessalonians 5:17 - Pray without ceasing.

If you cease praying by playing or listening to music which does not praise God, that means you are disobeying God.

Are you calling the Bible stupid? Or us for following it?

It's stupid that you'd think just because something doesn't praise God it's evil.

Thank for your unsubstantiated opinion. Please take a look at a verse that tells us what God thinks about your claim.

              1 Thessalonians 5:17
              Pray without ceasing.

If something doesn't praise God, it makes people cease their Prayer, their Praise. Hence. It is evil. Q.E.D.

That is the very definition of evil. God created all things for His glory.

Rev 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

And Paul tells us that everything we do must glorify God.

1 Cor 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

It therefore follows that whatever does not bring praise and glory to God is sin.

Is it possible that a secular musician could compose music that glorifies God? No!

                  Mt 7:16-19
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
(See also Jas 3:11; Jer 13:23)

Pro 15:8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord: but the prayer of the upright is his delight. (See also Pro 28:9)

Then there is the question of time. As others have mentioned, we are to pray without ceasing. We are also to give thanks (1 Thes 5:18), rejoice (Phil 4:4) and meditate on God's law (Ps 1:2) without ceasing. That leaves no time for listening to secular music.

If you like secular music, you do not love God.

                  1 Jn 2:15-16
15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

You have a decision to make. Jesus invites you to count the cost before following Him.

                  Lk 14:26-33
26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
27 And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?
29 Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,
30 Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.
31 Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?
32 Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace.
33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.

So let's do a risk-return analysis. "Come now, and let us reason together (Is 1:18a)."

                  Cost
                  Return if God is real
Return if God is not real
                  Hate your father (Lk 14:26)
An eternity in Heaven praising God
                  Zero
Hate your mother (Lk 14:26)This may not be for you, as there will be no secular music there. It will all have been for nothing.
Hate your wife (Lk 14:26)Rev 7:9-111 Cor 15:16-19
Hate your children (Lk 14:26)9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number,16 For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised:
Hate your brothers (Lk 14:26)of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne,17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.
Hate your sisters (Lk 14:26)and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;18 Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.
Hate your own life (Lk 14:26)10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.
Carry your cross (Lk 14:27)upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.
Follow Jesus (Lk 14:27)11 And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders
Forsake all that you have (Lk 14:33)and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God.
Hate the world (1 Jn 2:15)
Hate the things of the world (1 Jn 2:15)
Pray without ceasing (1 Thes 5:17)
Give thanks without ceasing (1Thes 5:18)
                  Rejoice without ceasing (Phil 4:4)
Meditate on God's law without ceasing (Ps 1:2)
Glorify God in everything you do (1 Cor 10:31)
Please note that the cost column is compiled only from the verses I have shared with you in this post. The Bible is a very long Book. A much more extensive list could be made.

So you can see that being a true disciple of Jesus comes with a great cost to your relationships, quality of life and time. Whether it is worth it is up to you to decide.

Having invited you to count the cost, Jesus will be very understanding about the decision you make when you stand before Him in judgement and will be only too willing to oblige if you decide that not bringing Him glory every moment of your life on earth is worth an eternity in Hell.

                  Rev 20:11-15
11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

It's also worth noting that even damnation won't get you out of praising God.

                  Phil 2:9-11
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
                  10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Rev 5:13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.

Anyway, I'm off to mediate on not boiling a kid in its mother's milk (Ex 23:19), not wearing clothes of mixed fabric (Deut 22:11) and not coveting my neighbour's ass (Ex 20:17).

Think about whether it's worth it.

                  In His grip,

                  P. P.
sigpicMt 21:42, 44 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes . . . ? And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

                    Re: Demon possession in music

"There is no communication without movement," we're told. Which means that if demons communicate ideas or appetites, something is moved. It could be a hand (gang signs) or whole limbs (convulsions) or even internal elements (larynx, pharynx, epiglottis) as the next example demonstrates.

The phenomenon is well acknowledged. Demons are very interested in one's innards but have no regard for the whole person. Except insofar as they're enabled to communicate beyond the skin to others. It's not for me to say there's a cascading effect once the first demon learns how to control vocal chords or starts writing songs and that that's how unholiness gets spread.

Demons do not want us to bow before Christ. They want us to be destroyed. Demons cannot attack in Heaven, therefore they attack here using the innards the various glands and organs declaring war on The Cross.

Philippians 3:18-19 For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.
