I am a KJV-only ultraliteralist and I do not believe in twisting God's holy words out of context. I admit, in the past, I was under the spell of certain preachers and pastors who convinced me that all homosexuals will burn in Hell and believed this so. But, as I began to study my Bible more, I began to realize these pastors were wrong.
What the Bible states, very clearly, is that certain homosexuals, but not all, sin against God. I would like to quote some of the more prominent verses and explain why only some homosexuals are damned.
These two verses are often quoted by false preachers like Jerry Falwell or Pat Robertson as so-called "clear prohibitions" against homosexuality. Yet, when you analyze the text, nothing says that. First off, the Bible says "lie with mankind as with womankind". It doesn't say to engage in sexual intercourse, it says "lie", which means to lay down with. God is clearly against men sleeping with each other (literally), but not against homosexual sex in and of itself.
Even so, this is neither a prohibition of homosexuals kissing each other, loving each other romantically, or being in a committed relationship.
This applies to only Israel. If you're not Israeli, this verse does not affect you.
This is not against all homosexuality, but rather, lustful homosexuality. Then again, God makes it clear in the Bible he is against lustful heterosexuality as well.
Effeminate does not equate with homosexual. Some homosexuals, but definitely not all, are effeminate. Compare Elton John vs Robert Reed (Dad on the Brady Bunch). There are also many macho work-out types of homosexuals. This law does not apply to them.
Abusers of themselves with mankind means those that abuse themselves with people. God is speaking against those that do S&M, spanking fetishes, and other vile practices.
So while the Bible does mandate that many homosexuals are sinners, we must be careful not to lump every single one of them into this category. Reading through the Bible, we can clearly see nothing wrong with two masculine gay men (not married), but living in a committed relationship together who sleep in two seperate beds.
