Bzzzzt. The 1611 Authorized King James Version is most definitely NOT in Old English. To illustrate, here's Luke 2:1 from the KJV 1611:

Luke 2:1(KJV1611) "And it came to passe in those dayes, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed."

Aside from a few minor spelling differences (compared to modern usage), very easy to understand, even 400 years later.

OK, let's look at some Middle English, so here's Luke 2:1 from Wycliffe's Bible (late 14th century, a bit over 200 years before the KJV):

Luke 2:1(Wycliffe) "2:1 Forsoþe it is don, in þo daȝis a maundement wente out fro cesar august, þat al þe world shulde ben discriued,"

Wow. WTF is with "þ" and "ȝ"? Still, once we learn that "þ" is pronounced as we would "th", a modern English reader could still (with a bit of effort) discern the meaning quite readily.

And here's some REAL, genuine old English (hold on to your trilby), Luke 2:1 from the Wessex Gospels (ca. 990 AD):

Luke 2:1(WG) "Soþlice on þam dagum wæs geworden gebod fram þam casere augusto. þæt eall ymbehwyrft wære tomearcod;"

Welcome friend. It as plain as the boil on a nigras butt what your problem is. You think the magnificent Word of God needs to be interpreted!
Do you think that God is incapable of saying what He thinks?
Do you think God is no able to hand out instructions to the simplest of humans?
God created everything. He knows most humans are idiots, though I suspect you did not realize that. Therefore, He had the Bible written for (as statisticians say) the lowest common denomination. God said what He meant and meant what He said. Plain and simple. Like a boil.

Hi, I'm new to this forum, and I hope to have a good time here. I'm not very radical, I'm just an average joe who attends church every sunday and reads his bible, and does his prayers. I will act as a "devil's advocate" in debates to show an opposing viewpoint from time to time, and while I may not share radical ideologies, I think we can agree on something. I won't use swears on these forums or personally attack its members.

I can never understand this approach. It's like my joining a knitting forum and starting off with "You know, I am here to tell you all that you don't really know the first thing about knitting. I will be polite, but expect me to challenge your every technique, and despite the fact that I am an uninvited guest, and my constant criticisms and challenges testify to the extent that I am a butthole, I expect you to be nice to me."

Kindly give me your address so that I can ring your doorbell at Christmas, walk in, sit down, and make a similar speech to you and your stupid looking family.
