  • I need your help my dear brothers and sisters

    Hi

No big introduction here, just posting here because I cannot post anywhere else.

I am from baptist church and been Christian a bit over 2 years.

I joined this site because I am looking for people who would be willing to pray for me to receive the gift of tongues. This has been on my heart for a while and desire to have it is tearing me down. I thank you guys in advance for prayers.

Greetings user12. By the strangest of coincidences I just received a Christmas present of underwear from my Auntie and it was inspected by inspector12 according to the tag. Perhaps this person is related to you. The white people will be glad you have come because they are Baptists too. I am glad to meet you because I believe you are a white man and I am conducting a study of white people as part of my studies. What languages do you hope to learn? I myself speak the English language and I am learning to speak American. There is much that we can learn from each other. Welcome!

Yes and a sad thing it is, too. This is the section where you introduce yourself. It is not the section where you fail to introduce yourself and then make a request. We would like to know a little bit about you. Who is your Pastor? What congregation are you a member of? What revolver do you favor? How many are your sons? Don't be shy; out with it.

        God Bless!

          Dear Pentecostal Lunatic,

No, I will not pray for you to speak in tongues. I am instead praying that you will have the discernment to avoid false teachings. Hope this helps.

Sorry of it offended you guys... I am not that kind of person who would write 300 page long book of himself...

Since I am in small place with small number of people, giving these details would allow anyone who reads this post to guess who I am.

Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

Friend, your mind is being trolled by Satan. If you think Pentecostal practices like speaking in tongues are OK, I urge you to watch the following splendid video.

It's only an hour and 23 minutes, so you should be able to get through it quite quickly and easily.

Hello and welcome to our friendly forums!

Why would you want to talk in tongues? I've seen that on the TV and they look like they are having seizures.

What does that have to do with Salvation?

If it's from satan then how do you explain this bible verse?
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.

I agree with you that this gift can come from satan as he copies the miracles from God and loves to appear as the angel of light to deceive even the chosen ones if possible. But it does not mean that it is always from satan. Because if satan is able to do something then God is also.

I am instead praying that you will have the discernment to avoid false teachings.

Ok, that's strange. Maybe the one you saw had this gift from satan and not from God? Because if it is truly from God, you should have control over gift, not gift over you....

What does that have to do with Salvation?
                            None.

                              Dear Sinner,

All this has been explained in detail on this Godly Forum by our beloved Pastor Levi.

                              But the Pentecost is Biblical.

It sure is. Let's get to the scriptures.

                              Acts 2:2-4
1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Whoa! Whoa! Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe they did start speaking in strange gibberish.

Nah, I'll just keep reading the chapter to get the actual context.

                              Acts 2:5-8

5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?
8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?

So you can see the Pentecost was an actual miracle. Everyone could hear everyone else in his own language. They didn't start speaking in BA-BA-BA-BA-BA-BA-BA-BA-BA. They spoke in their own languages and the other people could understand it. There were no translators involved.

What does the Bible say about this ability to speak in tongues today?

1 Corinthians 13:8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

It was a gift that the early apostles had. If the apostle Paul is to be believed, it will fade away since his time.
You see, it is the difference between actual languages (I've yet to hear a Pentecostal demon-possessed US citizen talk in Burushaski or Ket) and the Pentecostal gibberish that determines the Spiritual value of this phenomenon.

It is good that you seek to overcome your ignorance!

                              1 Peter 1:14
As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:

                              Yours in Christ,

                              Elmer
2 Kings 18:25 - Am I now come up without the LORD against this place to destroy it? The LORD said to me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.
