  • Hi!

Hi, My name is Maria and I go to St Francis Of Assisi Roman Catholic church in Longmont, CO. My favorite Bible verse is
    Matthew 11:28
"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

But I love it when my Mother says it

"Venid a mí todos los que estáis trabajados y cargados, y yo os haré descansar"

And Jesus has always been a part of my life. He has guided me to where I am today and I can only hope to repay him.

(and I hope you, dear friend, have a wonderful day! )
God Bless you and have a wonderful day!

        Hello, Mary Rose.

I saw something about 'trabajo' which means you're looking for a job, right? Job, trabajo, si? You-o work-o? El Laundry-o? Clean-o de casa, si?

Hello and to our friendly forum!
Your choice of verse is very lovely indeed. Matthew 11 is such a beautiful chapter; it tells us that it's not good for inhabitants of a city to piss off the Son of God, for His Holy vengeance will be worse than the fate of Sodom and Gomorrah:

          Matthew 11:20-24
20 Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:
21 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
22 But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.
23 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.
24 But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.

We may assume that not everybody in Chorazin, Bethsaida, and Capernaum actually saw what Jesus did (especially people who were infants or weren't alive at that time), nonetheless, those cities will suffer greatly during the Day of Judgment. (Well, these villages don't actually exist anymore, and archaeologists seem to have trouble finding two of them, so maybe they got their Judgment Day already).

Another important part of this chapter is where Jesus says that Salvation is for the simple people, while smarty pants will go to Hell:

Matthew 11:25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

Praise for not making us too smart!
God created fossils to test our faith.

Speaking of the Mexican language, I'm reminded of a rude and unbiblical Mexican custom. Whenever you say good night to a Mexican woman in Mexican, buenas nachas, she responds by slapping you. Why is that and where did this custom originate?

Hello Maria, I'm Gale. Welcome to this strange place, but there are some normal, fun-loving folk here, to balance the scales. Tell me, have you seen all the colors of the wind? Felt sensations never felt possible? I'm you're gal, hun.

No, That is not my name, it is Maria Rosa. And, yes, trabajo does mean work, although I already have a job, it's on my profile page.

And although you know what work means, your Spanish needs "Trabajo" as you so crudely put it. What you would be looking for would be "¿Tú Trabajas?" and since laundry is feminine, not masculine it would be "¿La Lavandería?". Finally, "Home" is also feminine, so it would be "¿Limpiar la casa, si?". I hope this helps, next time you ask a Spanish speaker if they need work, and if they want to clean your House.
And no, I refuse to clean your house.

It is the Spanish language, as it originated in Spain. I am unaware of this custom, since I was born in the U.S., my parents wouldn't know, since they were also from the U.S., And I'm sure my grandmother wouldn't know, because she is from Puerto Rico. And, another mini Spanish Lesson? It's "Buenos Noches." If you learned this custom from experience, it's because you stated it wrong.
Sorry if I sound mean, I just don't think you are being too sincere.
God Bless you and have a wonderful day!

It's truly a pleasure to meet you Gale! And, if the offer is for what I think it is, I'm going to have to politely decline, I don't really "Swing that way". But, we could always just socialize or have a day out, if that is what you wish.

Ah, that's a shame. I bet you're a pretty one, but I find Mexican women quite demure so it's understandable.

Perhaps I can help, brother. Mexican women often have wasps and small mice following them around, most likely due to the sweet stench ruminating forth from their sin box (sweet from the standpoint of insects, from the cornmeal that turns into simple sugars). Because of this, they are often frustrated, and naturally sleep deprived. Furthermore, they are subjected to terrible music all day and night that inspires greasy old men with pornstaches around them to gyrate and thrust their hips to the Latin beat, increasing the number of demons present at the time and intensifying stress on the female. Mexico desperately needs Jesus.

Well, technically, it's not Maria but María. Which is the same as Mary Rose, Maria Róża, and many other variants in other languages.

                            It's "Buenos Noches."
I think you meant Buenas noches. Night (noche) in Spanish has female gender, so the adjective has to be in female form as well.

I hope that was helpful, dear.
