1. Let's look at the word as it is used in other verses:

2. There is no capital punishment for "the cross-dressing sin" (which is limited to women wearing the armour of a warrior or warriors disguising themselves as women). Not all abominations are listed as capital offenses

I'm not sure what your point is. In the Bible, כֵלָ֗יו (ḵê·lāw) is always translated as armour (you can check the link). On the other hand, כְלִי־ (ḵə·lî-) has a more broad meaning, ranging from clothing through instruments all the way to jewelry - basically, we could colloquially translate כְלִי־ as "stuff."

When someone says, that X is such a grave sin that it deserves capital punishment, I'd say yeah, that means that X is the sin of the worst kind, as there is no more severe punishment than the death penalty. Nothing has changed in the world of Sodomy. This is why it's such a threat to marriage and the security of the United States in general. And why wouldn't it be? At least with a woman there is a chance that seed will find fertile ground and the whole event inspire Jesus to create and bless a Spontaneous Love Child who will grow up to be a successful Pastor or Missionary or administrator in the NRA, forever spreading the Good News that those who love and obey Christ will be eternally rewarded, and those who don't will forever be sorry. Spewing one's seed into the dark, dank, sinful depths of another man's shame will never beget a child that may one day turn to Jesus and Glorify Him as a Miracle Child. Or even glorify Him by illustrating God's Divine Justice. Nothing can come of that union of horrors. I mean, it could, like Jesus could conduct a miracle and make a man pregnant. After all, He got Mary Pregnant with Himself in the form of a Ghost but then she gave birth to Him in the form of a baby even though she was a virgin herself and the laws of physics don't allow that. Then again, Jesus doesn't have to follow the laws of physics if He doesn't want to. No one can make Him.
