Thank you for the welcome, Mr. Pendergast. I grew up in a pentecostal church, then at the age of 16 I realized while reading my Bible that what they were teaching in church was a lie (there were female pastors and everything), so I left that church, ran away from home, and found a real church were I gave my life to God.

Oh Glory! Another home educator to talk with! We can spend just hours and hours discussing curriculum, discipline, chores, schedules, patriotism, singing, the best way to use the Bible to teach Math, oh and just all sorts of fun and wonderful things!

Do tell, what are your thoughts about penmanship and how many hours per day do your children dedicate to it?

I grew up in a pentecostal church, then at the age of 16 I realized while reading my Bible that what they were teaching in church was a lie (there were female pastors and everything), so I left that church, ran away from home, and found a real church were I gave my life to God.

Pentecostal. Say no more, Dear. My father was a Pentecostal minister. We didn't have women pastors (men and women usually sat apart from each other in our church) but women were cutting their hair. Glad you've found redemption elsewhere, but please don't tell me you're going to one of those mega church, unless it's a MAGA church.

I am so happy to meet another home educator! I have taught my children penmanship since they each turned three (I'm currently working on teaching the youngest two how to read the Bible). My oldest three are starting to work on cursive, and the younger three are in different stages of learning how to write in print. The boys do three hours a day of practice, and the girls do two, spending an extra hour on working on more domestic skills. (My three year old is learning how to clean surfaces with a rag, which makes her the youngest girl in the family).

We currently live in New Jersey, but I'll make sure to let my husband know about your recommendation. He is a carpenter (like Jesus ) , and he prefers peach pie.

I must not have made myself clear enough, dear. My youngest two children (twin two year olds, one boy and one girl) are learning to read. I have another daughter (3) who is just learning to clean surfaces with a rag, along with beginning to learn how to write. There are two boys in the print-writing group, who are four and five. In my older group (the ones learning cursive) are two boys and one girl. Yes, I seperate them by group so that they can practice at their own levels, since there is such a range in ages.
