John 14:15 says "If ye love me, keep my commandments."

That doesn't just mean the top ten commandments, that means the whole Bible, even the parts that say to kill witches and unruly children! Even the parts that say not to wear clothing of mixed fabrics! (Dueteronomy 22:11)

Have you ever driven the streets of Los Angeles as a police officer and stepped out of your car into a gunfight or violent crime once a month for your entire career? Have you watched your grandparents, parents and children die? The world is not all about you! EVERYONE suffers. And were you doing something heroic when this happened? Rushing in an ambulance to save a choking child? Manning a fire truck to save the people in a retirement home? NO! You were not! You were probably drunk or stoned, driving your parent's car. What is that supposed to mean?

It means he can't answer your (or anyone else's) arguments, so he wants to hand-wave them away and get you to look beyond what God said in His Word to what the emo Christians-lite feel that God should have said.
